Anyone who lives in the rest of the country has to be amused by your thinking that 50 degrees is a winter temp and makes summer tires "begging to show their weaknesses". It's 50 every morning in the summer where I live, and I have not heard my tires begging at all. Wait a minute, and I'll go out and check again..... Nope, no begging.

<grin> You guys crack me up. Down to 50*?! I drive my Summer tires until the first snow, which usually appears weeks after the first frost around here.

I saw you asking about mods in other threads. If you want to go fast and become a safer pilot in the process, repeat after me:

Hey, if you think your advans are so worthless...can u give the rest of them to me for free ??

Rubber compound and tire technology maybe pretty advanced technology and all but for one company to be so far ahead of the others that even their All-season tires can out perform all the other's summer tires??? that is just impossible in my opinion

You live in Florida Varrius. It won't ever get cold enough for your tires to take a performance hit and even then casual driving will warm them up. Secondly, 'rain performance' is a bit of a misnomer since the stock tires can handle wet tarmac at safe speeds just fine.

I think the entire point of this thread is that you feel like you got fleeced, which at the price you paid for the product you got, would be the truth.

The Michelin Sport A/S in Y rating cost $256 retail.

I am running these same tires, and they suck, except if it rains or snows. In the dry these are the worst tires you can buy. I actually competed in autocross with these tires, and I actually gave up trying to put down decent times, and instead I tried to put on a good drift show for everyone, which they are well adapted for since they have no dry traction what so ever. =) Compared to other all weather tires, these have very good dry traction, just don't try to compare it to falken's RT-615 or even the stock Advans. Overall I'd say they are a very versatile tire, and probably THE BEST tire to have when its raining period.

I have the A/S (all-season) version. They S U C K. My autocross times increased an average of 10 seconds going from Falken RT-615 to Michelin Pilot sports A/S. They are an ALL SEASON TIRE meaning they are made of a less aggressive compound, which translates into less dry traction. I don't care if they are on lambo's or not, they aren't as "sticky" as most other high performance tires.

I don't think lambo's use the A/S, they use sports which are vastly more superior in the dry.

I wouldn't know - Varrius just keeps trying to convince us why his $1050 purchase of all season tires is so great, since they are used on Lambos and perform better than performance summer tires like the stock Advans.

According to Tire Rack they're not superior. They rate them as 9.1 in the dry and 9.0 for the A/S That's not much of a compromise to be able to drive hard in wet conditions.

Ah, yes, then because Tire Rack rates them so close, then it doesn't matter what happens on the track.
