to the original poster - you can sign up on myfico.com or other sites to check your credit score with each major credit company. you can check each company 1 time per year.
it is good practice to check your own credit score on a regular basis to make sure nothing gets on that shouldn't be on. myfico.com has a small fee but it tells you what is good about your credit history, what is bad about your credit history, and how you can remedy those bad parts. it's worth the $50 or so dollars, imo.
