Lightbulb Calling all E.I. customers!

Hello,
Hey hows everyone doing. I'm just here trying to setup some type of thread that talks about any current news of when the damn cars are going to be released. Seeing what E.I. has been telling you, and I'll mention what they have been telling me.
Basically I want to know what Adam has been telling you guys, and so on.

no one will post for fear...... if some *** had suckered me out of $30-$40k, I would keep my mouth shut for the humility.... but I would imagine most people won't talk because they fear never getting their cars...especially if they say what a ****ty company EI is.

Supposedly the guy who helped MotoRex get the Skyline's legal, is working with the Evo VII's....but... MotoRex actually crash tested skylines where EI is relying on the Evo VII being similiar enough to the Lancer and/or the Evo VIII.... which is not really the case...... let the crashtests begin.

Anyways.... I said I wanted to know any new info. Adam has been working hard trying to make us feel comfortable, and is doing everything he can. I respect the guy and his business. Scot I hate bashing you, but I feel you shouldn't be so ignorant to make uneducated assumptions.
I would really like to know whats going on so far. So far from what he has told me, there are a select few cars that have been converted tuned, and etc. to comply with everything to make the car U.S. legal. It really isn't that far fetched to get a letter from a Japanese headquarters, or even a U.K. mitsu headquarter that states that their crash test standards are same if not better then U.S. standards.
The main thing that is taking the last stage is the initial petition to be posted on the DMS petition board.

Oh yeah... just to remind Scot again.... If you have anything that isn't "bashing" related, please don't post here.

You should rephrase that.

The closed lip mentality of some just perpetuates the rumors.

It also perpetuates the ability of a possibly bad business to continue operations and rip off others in the future.

And if the info is positive, keeping it off the boards does nothing to help a company that likely needs some fresh customers.

I imagine that most of the talks here are happening offline or on pm.

he is making you feel comfortable.??? how about returning your $ until your car is legal.? I did speak to Adam on the phone about one of the original cars discounted to $30k about a year ago, so I have an idea what is going on.

EI has done nothing right.... a full year after taking $, they just recently started to fill out the proper paper work...that same paperwork takes over a year (generally) to finalize.

You will not get your car for a long time.... I would ask for a refund....... EI has zero assets, so you cannot collect anything from them if they dissappear..... and your car is useless parked at the Registered Importers....

EDIT - Do you really think that Mitsu is going to hang their head out there so you (and 10 other guys) can import a Evo VII into the usa...claiming it's crashworthyness? So when someone drives one into a tree, Mitsu gets a huge lawsuit.? Maybe that is what Adam has told you??

I heard Adam is going to convert RHD evo viii's to LHD..ahahahah....I really want to see the end results there!

And...you do know that EI has absolutely nothing invested in this project since they got $ in advance on the cars....great for EI, not so great for you.

One correction: They're not being converted. They were imported as LHD RSII's. I believe they did begin to offer RHD to LHD conversion services later on, but not on the cars being imported for street use at present.

EDIT: I believe that the RHD to LHD conversion service is for their used cars that they're trying to resell. I can only assume they use RS/RSII half cuts for parts.

I was only talking about Evo viii's with that right hand drive converted to left hand drive comment.

The Evo VII's are all Left Hand Drive...(yet still not legal). I agree!

Please note before you read this post...a good informative post on how the importation process works can be found in this thread: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...threadid=10091
The guy who posted it, Senor Info, has really done his research, knows how the process works, and has provided nothing but facts to backup his statements.

According to this post: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...5&pagenumber=1
A gentleman named Sean Morris submitted a petition to the DOT on February 4, 2003. Once the NHTSA reviews this petition, they will post a notice to the federal register. In his post, Sean Morris claims that the notice should have been posted 10-14 days later.

However, if you go to the site for the federal register and search for it, you will find that the notice has not yet been posted. (To search go to http://www.access.gpo.gov/su_docs/aces/aces140.html , use the phrase "Notice of Receipt of Petition for Decision That Nonconforming" with the quotation marks, check the "Notices" box and indicate an "After" date.)
When I searched, the only vehicle notices that came up were:
1/16/03 2002 Moto Guzzi California EV Motorcycles
1/16/03 European Market 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Multipurpose Passenger
Vehicles
3/12/03 1986 Chevrolet Blazer, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicles (probably an overseas version)
3/12/03 1996 and 1997 Lamborghini Diablo Passenger Cars

No Lancer Evo notice.

Anyways, after the notice is posted to the Federal Register, the NHTSA sets up a docket for it, which can be found here: http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchFormSimple.cfm
As you can see when you go there, there is no docket for the EvoVII yet (since it's notice hasn't been posted to the Register).

Anyways, once the docket has been posted, it can take several months for the car to become elgible for importation. Since Mitsubishi has the Evo8 here already, they will no doubt challenge the petition. If you look at a similar petition ( http://dms.dot.gov/search/searchResu...mberValue=7965 ), you will see someone petitioned to bring the Porsche GT3 here, it was challenged by Porsche of America, and eventually denied, for many reasons...one of which was the difference in Gas Tank size between the GT3, and the 911 it petitioned to be substantially similar to. If the porsche was denied because of that, I see no reason the EvoVII would not be.

So anyways, nobody has their cars (they did for a while and had to give them back...If you search you will find those posts) and they are basically waiting for all this to happen.

Please correct me someone if anything I have posted is incorrect.
