part question

I have a 2004 Evo VIII. My clutch has almost worn out and I have to replace it soon, so I've been looking into aftermarket parts. I'm a daily driver in NYC, and I'm looking for an aftermarket part that's similar to the stock part.

People have reccommended a few that are good, but I'm told that they're very stiff, etc. Please recommend one that would almost feel the same as the stock part.

Thanks guys!

the only thing i can tell you is to search and if you want a better idea why not ask any of the local guys to just drive it in a parking lot to feel the stiffness of the clutch. what may be stiff to you probably isnt for someone else

^ Dude ACT clutches are some of the best street clutches on the market. Not the best for racing but daily driving they work very well. As far as ruining transmissions thats the dumbest thing Ive ever heard no offense . The only thing about act clutches in an EVO is that you will have to adjust your clutch pedal properly to avoid any high rpm lockout.

IF YOU WANT A GOOD CLUTCH THAT WONT HURT YOUR POCKETS....... ACT!!!! ACT!!!!.
I had mine in for about 2 1/2 years now. No problems. I changed the disk when I was getting my trannny rebuilt. I will buy another one hands down, no questions about it.

Eaither your friend does not know how to drive or whoever installed it did not do so properly. Just you saying that the ACT clutch f^%$ed up his trans is not proof enough. What exactly happened that he can prove. How did the clutch destroy the tranny. Sorry I dont believe it

i just heard from him about his act experience and decided to stay away from that brand of clutch i dont have any proof of anything nor do i need it to prove anything to you, if you have a good experience with that product great. i will stop bad mouthing the clutch since i have no experience w/ it but that does not change my opinion

Cool . Didnt mean to be offensive just wanted to disprove that the clutch was the actual culprit of your friends trans breaking.

Opinions are like ..., everybody's got one. ACTs are great clutches, the only way an ACT clutch could possibly cause your trans to blow up is if it kicks one of the springs on the pressure plate through the bell housing, which I have seen happen, but I believe ACT fixed that problem.
