Huh? That's the only alternative? Dude, you don't even have an Evo. 2.5K shifts with a 7.6K redline is just ridiculous.

I don't have an Evo but I get around 22-23 mpg for the most part. I was getting around 25 mpg before I got the ECU tuned for more boost.

Not to sound like a smartass but if you were concerned about gas mileage you should've purchased a Honda instead of an Evo.

I'm amazed the EVO 9 could be driven at such a low RPM, my EVO 8 could't pull smoothly from below 2K from anything other then 1st gear.

When I'm trying to save gas, I shift @ 3K which puts me just over 2K in the next gear.

Obviously the 4g63 is different from Subaru's EJ25 but I normally shift at around 2000-2500 rpm if I'm trying to get optimal mileage.

I also use the DCCD and set it to the most-rearward setting, which actually does help with gas mileage. I guess messing with the settings on the Evo's AWD won't do anything?

before reseting ECU and changing spark plugs I made around 200 miles/45 litres (when the yellow light com on).

Now I made 260 miles/45litres of gas

In both cases I have to shift around 3k of RPMs and its almost all city driving

I use 100 octane gas

****ing at 2k is a bit low for the poor little 2 liter. Shifting at 3k is good but just keep out of boost.

There's a thread about chevron. Look in the vishnu forum for details. But it's been dyno proven that chevron doesn't sit well with evos. Try either 76 or shell for a little while and see how you like it.

if i shift at 3k then my gas mileage would drop right? im thinking about changing it ot 2.5k.

i use chevron becuase it's the cheapest gas around the area and its right by my house. i'll give 76 or shell a try once i find one that has prices close to the chevron that i go to. i'll go look for the thread now

I average around 250 a tank, and that's w/ "tame" driving.

I gas up at 300 miles per tank, usually with 1.5 gallons left. I get roughly 23mpg. I don't boost all that often though. You just need to learn to keep your foot off the gas and the engine out of boost, learn how to coast, and that the car wasn't exactly designed with gas mileage in mind.

As long as you do that, you can enjoy having one of the most kick-*** cars on the road and not constantly keeping one eye on the fuel meter.
