I was going to get an oil change and....

I work at a Mitsu dealer. I just got my evo (1500 miles) and I wanted to give it an oil change. So I asked the service guy how much would it be....it was 40$. And I said "Mobile 1 right". He was like "No we use Castrol Synthetic, its better" I know its a good oil, I just did want to change from Mobile 1. What are your thoughts? BTW I have not chenged it yet

Maybe the Castrol distributor gave them a great deal. That makes it better for them.

I guess I'd have to know if the "it's better" statement is true and how it works out in the EVO. Can't imagine it can be much different.

Stick with Mobil 1, I'd even demand Mobil 1 if you let the dealership change the oil. Your warranty is with Mitsubishi, not the dealership, and Mistubishi requires Mobil 1.

+1 Mobile 1 FTW!!!!!!! Obviously it's been tested to run well with Mobil 1 if it comes factory filled and says so on the oil cap...Castrol :might: work too but why chance it?

I'm a Mobil 1 Fan I'd still run Mobil 1 if the cap were to say Castrol on it.

I run only Mobil 1 in my Evo. FWIW. Why take a chance with the warranty? (Although the owner's manual does just require synthetic, and federal law says the mfr can't make you use only one brand, unless they give it to you free.)

My dealer also charge about $40, BTW. (But I do my own changes and keep all the receipts and labels.)

Royal Purple ~$7 a quart.
Mobile 1 M1-110 Oil Filter $10
10 minutes to do it yourself. $45 total with the best oil you can buy. Why pay someone else labor for something that takes 10 minutes to do?

Evo and Mobil1 is the winner!!

Change it yourself, Oil filter and 5 quarts of Mobil1 oil cost less than $40. Plus its easier than doing oil change on a Honda civic!!
