Evo 8 vs SLK32 AMG (good link)
I'm the owner of the SLK32 AMG. I was wondering if some of you who are familiar with this car can give me some feedback as to what kind of launch the Evo had. Did he come out pretty hard or does it look like a **** launch? If you had to guess, what do you think his 60ft was? The reason why I ask is because I just put a set of drag radials on the Benz and the thing hooks up amazingly well after heating them up on the street. Is it possible I'm pulling a 1.8 60ft or so?
This Evo was lightly modded and the race was about an 1/8th mile. Towards the end, before the Evo hit the brakes, I had about a car to a car and a half on him.

Thanks for any input,

I think 1.8 60' on the street is pushing it - it can be difficult enough to get a 1.8 on the track with the aid of VHT. Didn't look like the evo got too bad of a launch, but it's difficult to tell when viewing footage taken from next to the car.

Do you think VHT does anything for an AWD car like the Evo?

The SLK32 AMG weighs 3220 lbs and has a 5-spd automatic, but it does 0-60 in about 4.8 sec. If he didn't have drag radials, the Evo might've been even with him.

Gee, the AMG weighs a bit less than the Evo and has 349 HP and 332 lb-ft of torque. I wonder who's gonna win that race?

The drag radials definitely helped my AMG, but the thing that kills me is stall speed. The most I can really brake rev my car to is about 2300rpms. This car just simply wasn't designed for drag racing.
