Evo lemon

ANy of you guys get smoke when boosting out the tail pipe. Looks like excessive blow by to me. Reason asking is that I had a law suit with the car. They settled with cash. They had to change the short block and now Few friends of mine told me that when I take off they see smoke behind me. Blowby probably right, burning oil. i also did my oil change maybe 500 miles ago and looks pretty dirty very quickly. Also bubbles in the oil. Any ideas. I been reluctent to do any engine mods because of being scared of the dam thing blowing up. Just exterior stuff. Should I call my lawyer again?

Is it bluish smoke? That would indicate oil. Black smoke is more of a rich condition.

Yes, all evos (specifically untuned) run rich and therefore blow black smoke when accelerating hard. If its blue, then its burning oil but if its black, its normal.

yeah I get a lot of **** talk from the shop I work in. Telling me my mitsu is grbage and would never stand up to the chevys and stangs they had when they were younger. This young tech has an is300 and and always claims he beats me when Im not racing so i launched on him cause two of the techs were behind us and I knew I would hear **** the next day. Dissapeared on them. When i came in the next mourning no **** talk for the first time and when I said something they started to say "well of course you won. You used your trick smoke screen so none could see. You must have burnt about a quart of oil when you pulled off" Then my boy with his svt focus said the same he saw smoke. I gotta find out what color it actually is. I know white is coolent, black fuel, and blue oil, from my tech school, anyway thanks, im starting to like this board. Feeling more like home like ephatch.com once did.

My evo has 42,000 miles and doesnt use any oil. Its pretty much a daily driver cause its more fun and enjoyable to drive over my s-10. I do drive it fairly hard at times but never seen it burn any oil. I check it ocassionally and before i do my oil changes. Never seen any loss of oil.

Well I really have to see what color the smoke was that they saw. Could have been busting my chops Im off tomorrow so i will ask them tuesday. I know, I'm closing in on 15000 miles, and I check my oil as frequently as I can. Before my last oil change, and I usually fill it to about the half way point between the two dots on the dipstick, it dropped to the lower dot and I filled it back to the half way mark, which was about 400 miles away from its next due change. I know when my main seal was leaking it dropped dramatically quicker than normal. Im just tryen to make sure im gonna mod with out the thing blowing up on me, because I dont wanna do internal yet for a lil while. Or maybe I should get rid of it asap. I like it tho and will just take it step by step and make sure that everythings cool before dropping to much into her.

Even with proper break-in, it is still luck of the draw whether your Evo will burn a lot of oil or not.

Have you had someone follow you and look for it while you are accellerating full throttle? If not, you probably would never notice it.
