On an '05 with 94 octane..... you should be good to 21.5# in the winter, maybe even a tad more...no problem, assuming everything is in proper working order. You should gain, not lose, 15 horsepower. Your ECU won't retard the timing unless it senses engine knock. Where is Warrtalon...are we here all alone?

The EVO 9 can run 24psi on 94 due to revised cooling passage and a better knock sensor

It has better coolent passages in the head (then the VIII), allowing for more aggressive tuning.

I'm pretty sure it has the same knock sensor has the VIII. But I think the IX ECU has better knock control.

I wouldn't run 24 psi unless you were tuned for it. I wouldn't even run 23...

I'd say you're safe @ 22psi.

Of course - you should datalog to see what your timing looks like. If you can check your knock sum.

i have a defi gauge..mbc and ecuflash tune i will see 24psi spikes..holds to 20 or so at redline (this is probably more like 23 or so to 19 since the defi reads high)...my car was dyno tuned for this. as stated above too much boost and you will get throttle cut to prevent engine damage
