Very good

A couple other points I forgot to mention:

1.) We would have loved to measure a stock airbox with stock filter, but of the three EVO's in the parking lot, no one has a stock filter. I wasn't willing to spend money on a paper filter just for this test. Sorry!

2.) The K&N panel filter left a small trail of red oil in the machine that we then had to clean out. I usually oil the filter pretty moderately, then let it drip dry over the weekend before installing into the car. There was a small puddle of oil in the bottom of my airbox (very small.. just a film really) from the past month or so since the last time I cleaned the filter. To do the test, the airbox is on it's side (the flow bench's air inlet is vertical), so it's unclear if the oil got in there just from dripping off the bottom, or if it actually came out of the filter media. There was no sign of oil on the MAF element, so I think it just dripped in, but it still makes you wonder. I'm looking forward to the Buschur filter and not using oil anymore... which leads me to my next question:

Buschur maintenance: can you wash this filter with water, or is blowing it out with an airgun the only step you need? How long is the filter's life?

I plan to measure my new air filter when it arrives to compare it to the other unit, which has been used for ~6months now. It'll be interesting to see if there is any significant flow loss due to clogging (I doubt it though, considering the great measurements we found today).

Rob

Oh yeah, the title of this post was supposed to be "Objective Test Data", not "Object Test Data". Just a little typo there, but it won't let me change it. Oh well.

Did you use the stock MAF pipe on the tests or did you install the full Buschur intake pipe when testing it? Just curious.

Neither. We just measured the restriction of the scoop, airbox, and MAF (or the Buschur filter and MAF). We didn't disconnect the MAF pipe for either car.

My buddy does have the Buschur MAF pipe and I have a stock one, so we could technically do this test also.. it's just a little harder to pull those parts off in the parking lot during lunch.

I ordered a Buschur conical filter the other day and received it this evening. It doesn't appear to have any oil on it as the filter material is white instead of pink. Was your filter the same and is it really un-oiled or does Buschur not use a red-ish oil like K&N does?

The filter we tested today is a redish material, but does not have any oil on it.

It's 10Pm, I can't comprehend. In this objective analysis, you are saying the STOCK with K&N performs BETTER then the cone intake? (ie Buschur in this case.) or I mean, is a BETTER piece to use for your intake, then the stock box with drop in. This is NOT a nooby question, I am tired and don't follow.

Its too bad you couldnt record the MAF's output while testing..

Thanks for posting the results.

If I sent you something for a positive test it would look like a payoff for doing it. I'll take care of that via. PM!! haha

Thanks for again for the test.

Might have to toss in a "reach around" in your offer also.

He is saything that the Buschur WILL MAKE MORE POWER. It flows much faster/easily and is way less contrictive. He will confirm this when he tests the air temperatures.
