1) Knock any loose dirt/bugs/gunk off it by gently tapping it.
2) Spray it with K&N Filter Charger cleaner according to directions.
3) Rinse it off by running water (not under pressure) from the inside of the filter, letting it flow out the opposite way air would enter
4) Once it's dry, re-oil it with an even, light application of K&N oil.

Purchase a K&N Filter Charger kit - the directions are all in there, and you get the proper substances to do the job right.

Installed my BR filter today. Works great, sounds amazing, idles great, no lean condition in my datalogging though I did turn down the boost a little until I can get tuned. It is definitely Baby Jesus Approved.

EDEvo: thanks, but I already know how to clean a K&N filter. How do we clean a Buschur?

Are you saying to use the same procedure? If so, why is the Buschur called a 'dry element' filter?

Has anyone from Buschur ever said it's correct to treat the filter (maintenance-wise) like it's a K&N?

I PM'd Jrod@Buschur this question the other day and here is his answer:

"No not really. You could just use a air nozzel and blow it off/out.

Jarrod"

Wob R. -

Nick@Buschur gave me my info (as noted in my previous post) back in April. Perhaps they've introduced a new filter since then? Your best bet is to contact Buschur directly and get an answer.

My filter that I actually purchased from Buschur back in like April of '03 was pink. Have they changed to a completely unoiled element or just uncolored one now?

I emailed Buschur with a link to this thread and have asked them to shed some light, if possible.

It's funny to sit back and watch a test that was performed by someone on the outside of our company show great improvements and then have people say the stock box has no restriction up to XX HP. It's just rediculous to read this level of thought.

The stock airbox is a restriction, we've said it from the beginnning. Others don't want to believe it, here is actual labratory results proving it. At stock levels of power there is an increase in power with our filter, typically 6-7 whp. At 300 whp the levels are more and at 400 whp it gets even more.

The hot air from adding the box is very easily taken care of, most of it anyway. Just leave the stock air snorkel on the car and it blows cold are right onto the filter and into the entire filter area.

Our original filter was redish in color. Those do require using a K&N filter kit for cleaning and re-oiling. The newest filter we are using/selling is white and requires nothing to be added to it. It has an improved inlet which is more of a funnel design. These filters are also available for normal 3" inlet tubing for use without a MAF sensor. I run one on my RS with the GT35R and it works great.

Thanks again for the test.

Any pics of the new filter? Your site still shows the old one that I purchased in '03.

Thanks,
mitsuorder

edit: And does the new design throw off tunes for the old filter? How do the dimensions of the new filter compare to the old? I ask because with your redesigned intake pipe and the old filter there is no more room really for a longer filter. This is the case on my '03 at least.

Thanks again for the test.
Of course its a restriction compared to a cone type filter. I dont know if your referring to my posts but if you are, did you miss the part where I said that adding a cone filter has potential to make the car run better but also has potential to introduce driveability problems? I never doubted or said not to put a cone filter on anyone's car. I mainly point out the fact that for the potential problems that could be introduced, is it really worth it for 5 hp? It is not rediculous on any level of thought to say what I said. Not to be a d**k here but of course you will disagree when your product is the one in question, sorry its just a point of fact. I also gave these guys a thumbs up for the test they performed because it was done(hopefully unbiased) scientifically, which appeals to me as well. I respect you for who you are and what youve done with Evo's but I will continue to stick with my thoughts from what Ive read and learned over time, sorry its what I do.

Keep in mind that many have said what you have about cone filters so don't assume the response was actually directed towards you.

True. I am just responding to what Dave said. I am not trying to start a war by any means.
