It's ignition cut. You flood the cylinders with too much fuel if you hold the throttle down for too long. That's why it drives like ****.

It became standard equipment for the 05 model year. 03 and 04 Evos don't have it from the factory, but I believe you can get it with a flash or engine management (UTEC, AEM EMS, etc).

This^

or

Some say that the knock count goes up kinda high if you hit the 2-step too hard and/or hold it for to long. Maybe your holding it to long, get a big knock count and having timing pulled like crazy.

This very interesting info. I was just at the drag strip today and used my 2-step for the first time. My first launch was exactly like your first vid, I had major bog and a 2.10 sixty foot. I must have been holding my 2-step too long. My second attempt was better, but only a 1.80 60 foot. I may have still been holding it too long. After watching your vids, I'm definitely going to hold it for a much shorter time before the launch and hope for some 1.70-1.65 sixty foots like I have been doing before I had a 2-step.

ok, now i have an 03, with launch control added into the ecu. i held mine a little once, to see what max boost was going to be. after about 4 seconds, it let go and the rpms just climbed beyond the 6k. should it let go like that instead of holding on forever??
