why would warranty cover tow truck damage? When the front wheels/back wheels are locked and the other set spins, the transfer case wants to spin too. The ACD is a clutch type lsd. Towing it will overcome the non-rotating wheels and cause the friction of the clutch plates to heat up. Thats what fried the ACD. When this happened to mine the seals all blew out and the oil drained out almost as fast as you could put it in.

Luckily for me my insurance picked it up as comprehensive damage. 5k at the dealer for a new TC.

wow. That is horrible...

hope you could get it right again.

I would report to the captain of the department of what happened, and consult a lawyer about the towing company.

you were speeding, you didn't kill anyone and for them to have done to your car, it should be destruction of property in their part.

nobody should be above the law, not even the police.

Did you speak to the people at the Tow company? They are responsible for damages to the vehicle, which is why they are supposed to do a thorough inventory and inspection of the car before towing. Before you spend money in court, see if you can get them to cover it by thier own choice.

And as far as the cops... don't waste your time. They law says no license = impounded car. As bad as it sucks, you WERE driving with no valid license. I'm sure they didn't have anything to do with the tow, other than telling tow company to come impound the car.

Well you guys can call me a cheater or something, the thing is that I want Mitsu to warranty the tranny if there's anything wrong. That's the reason why I haven't told them that it was 2 wheeled towed.

If they are going to warranty it out then it means less headache for me.

But if they find out then I'll ask them the noted it that it damaged due to the 2 wheel tow and I'll take the letter to the lawyer or contact the towing company.

Well I prefer that they warranty it out because it'll be less headache on me.

when a intercooler pipe blew off my car once.... it wouldnt drive past 5 mph.
i called the towing service from my insurance company, demanded a flatbed. they said ok.
the towing company sent a lift. they did dolly the car. so i couldnt ***** that much. it jut took the guy 45 minutes to set the car up

the fact is...
the police are not at fault. in any state, it is illegal to drive on a suspended. they chose to impound the vehicle. you play with fire, you are gonna get burned.
now, the cops called a "professional" tow truck place. it is their business to know not to do that. you have a legitimate case against them.

how far away was the impound lot?

good luck with mitsu

Coming up behind us were 2 semi trucks, so what I did was spead up to merge onto the freeway and pass the lady. I say I went up to about 76 mph at max, then I slowed down to about 71-73 mph because the speed limit is 65.

A cop pulled me over saying that I was speeding (even though I didn't go that fast but I was above the speed limit) so I didn't complain. The bad thing is that I have an expired drivers license which I made an appointment with the DMV to renew it the next day. They said that I was speeding and driving with an expired drivers license so they impounded my car.

To make things worse, I asked them when they called the tow truck company to ask for a flat bed because our Evo has to be towed on a flat bed. They just ignored me and my Evo was towed with it's two front wheels off the ground.

When I got my baby back today, the smelled like burnt oil. I new then that the tow guys must had driven it around the block once or twice really hard. Not just that, the ACD was having problems. All of the lights were lited. I can't select to single mode.

Oh by the way, I spent about $500 for the processing fee and impounded fee. The speeding ticket is yet to come also. Freaking sucks man.
that sucks buddy. my parents own Fortney Towing in Fresno, CA. too bad we didnt get the call. your car wouldve been well taken care of. as far as liability for the damages, every tow company is differnt. If it was ours we would pay for the repairs, but some may drag it to court. I would for sure take actions. If the problem has allready been solved, i appologize for giving advice as i was too lazy to read thru 4 pages. lol. hit me up some time, maybe we could set up a mountian run.

So...

Speeding

Driving without a license

And it's the cops fault?

Some of you kiddies need to grow up.

The towing company should be held responsible for any damage but there's a lot more to this story than what's being told.

getting caught with suspended license is driving w/o a license, and i got locked up for that once. they will definitely have it towed right away(i'm guessing for evidence), at the time, they had the officers sent 3 other back up cruisers to arrest me. unlike abadoned cars, which i've seen stayed at the same spot for weeks(like my older car that broke down on a freeway ramp, they never showed up)

also, is it even possible to 2 wheel tow a full time awd car?? i read here long ago, some tow company tried that and the car was skidding and squeeling like mad.

Closest you can get is a normal style tow with the rear wheels being on dollys.

and you wonder why mistu cant diagnose it properly.....you didnt even tell them what happened and you are trying to scam a warranty out of them for something you did. Good job pal. You deserve what happened. This is called karma for being a dishonest person.

Sorry to sound mean but this is why mitsu denies warranties for those who have legit reasons. I blew my motor due to mods. Did I mod it back to stock and take it to mitsu crying? No...I bent over and took it like a man. I suggest you do the same.

sorry to hear that...I hope you used your camera phone to take pics or video of the tow truck for evidence and call your lawyer or find a good one to make the city pay your damages.

Just get a lawyer and sue the crap out of them. Mitsu is going to know something was up.. then you'll be screwed even more. Its warranty work like thatwhich makes mitsu screw us folks that have legitimate problems.
