Maybe because it's the middle of the day on a weekday? I'm assuming most people with Evos are busy working to make the money to pay for the car.

The gasket in question in on the top of the turbo. You should only have to remove the manifold shield and the manifold itself in order to find out if this is true or not.

I just talked to the guy at Pruven performance who swapped out thier turbo 2 x's already - he said if anything the gasket there is bigger than the hole in the manifold - this thread is just stupid idiocy

yea, starting to sound like BS to me too, especially if Pruven has removed the turbo twice....

Pipe dreams are nice though... specially when bored at work!

Just providing proof (without proof I'd be shredded into little bits in this thread), that METAL gakets can burn up and blow out. The pictures below show before and after of several sheet metal exhaust manifold to turbo housing gaskets that were part of a badly designed turbo kit (T3 Super 60 kit for a VW G60 BTW). Not related to Mitsu in any way, just proving that you can burn up and blow a metal gasket.

We just took a look at the blown apart drawings of the turbo connections and the gaskets look perfectly sized for the holes. I have a strong feeling that the source of this rumor was full of BS. (Yes, I know who it was)

I am a newbie to this site and am learning the culture. I started this thread. I am surprised at the number of post ****** here. So many of the posts have very little to add other than speculation.

I'd love to hear some facts on this.

The drawing could vary slightly from the actual gasket or the dimensions of the gasket, be it a service manual or even a shop manual.

I work in manufacturing...
Drawings don't always match the actual product

Well I spoke to my brother-in-law who is a :mits: tech about it last night. He said that the guy did mention it at the tech class and said it could add up to 30 HP. He has not checked this out for himself yet though.

We still have no real hard proof though. It sucks if Pruven performance has removed the turbo twice, and says the gasket is not a restriction.

Well any tech should know all about this gasket cause if you blew up how would he know you modified it if he doesn't already know it is there for restriction. I can't believe no one out there has yet to see this for themselves. Nothing against vendors but as previously stated, it hurts them.
