What are the VC violations on your ticket? In any case I am pretty sure you will be required to do a full SMOG test. I got one couple months ago. No big deal just put your stock header/intake back on and do the SMOG.

Yeah, that would be great if that was the only things I have done, but I'm concerned about the cams and head work. There is absolutely no way the Revolver cams will pass smog. My only idea, without having to replace the cams is try to take all of the overlap out of them with the cam gears. When you did this a couple months ago, did the ref actually take the timing cover off and see if you had adjustable cam gears?

I called the # today, and I do have to get a complete smog test. Obvioulsy, before I do anything I'm going to try to fight the ticket, since it won't go on my record anyway.

Thanks for your help guys.

I have heard that sometimes they will just forget about sending you to the ref if you pay the fine. I'll also try that. That's way less work.

I got the ticket in my Rx8 which has a rotary engine so no Cam or Cam gear =D. But I can tell you this, it is unlikely that the referee will open up your value cover to see if anything is stock. They will do a visual inspection on anything that's visiable and they do have the service manual with them to check and see if the stuff that's visible are stock or not. So as long as your car looks stock and can pass the smog check then it is fine.

I don't know...on my ticket it actually said that I am not allowed to drive the vehicle until it gets inspected.

Honestly I don't know why people in Cali heavily modify their cars. This is the third or fourth post in the last week about having to get smog checked in Cali. California is definitely not on my top fourty-nine places to live list.
+1. Yep, it's a **** state in relation to car mods.

I had my hood popped in CA a year back or so with my 240.. I had a skyline engine in there so there was'nt much I could do. I just went to court and paid the ticket. I think it was around $450. Really, the government cares more about your money than your car being smog legal.

These cars have just way to much fun hidden inside.

As sad as it sounds, I'm really glad to hear that. My plan right now is to fight the entire thing, and then if I lose (cop shows up), I'll just pay the money.

Every other year. But those aren't an issue, because you can find shops that will pass for the right amount of money. The issue is the state run smog referees, which are extremely strict, and won't take bribes.

it's every 2 years after the 4th year of the time of purchase (new).
basically u dont have to smog untill 4 years after you buy the car.

i got a ticket in beverly hills for my exhaust.
they dont have 4wd smog stations there. what they had is a van that acts as a 2wd portable smog station.

i think the best they can do is rev your car in neutral or whatever.
