the first cop was such a dick that he even marked "non correctible violation" on the ticket.
of course judge threw it out in court
she said that it is impossible for a modified part to be non correctible.
since the cop was wrong she tore up the ticket.
wait, thats like doing your time or paying your fine, but yet you still get the same ticket again??

non stock parts in the engine bay will not pass visual if the inspector can tell the difference... i say swap the parts put your ecu in limp mode and, if you want, have a local shop run the sniffer on your car to see how you'll do before your at the ref as the local guys might be a bit more forgiving it you aren't in spec... make sure to have a cat

He wrote non-correctible on mine too. Maybe that will be one of my arguments.

If the cop truly tagged you with something that was wrong, fight it, all the way. But you seem really worried about passing the inspection, so something with the car is obviously wrong (as far as the state is concerned, and you have listed your mods in your sig!!!!). Either restore the car to stock so you will pass, or.....suck it up.
Just my $0.02.

I'm not denying that my car is illegal, I am just pissed that I got hassled for no reason. Obviously I can pay the ticket, but I don't want to give up that easy, and I was just looking for some advice. Cops should have a lot more to worry about than a guy who put some simple bolt-ons on his car.

but as soon as cops see an evo or sti they pull u over.

i had 2 Mazdaspeed Proteges before my evo.

^ Yep. I think I have apretty good case for harrasment though, so hopefully it will get dropped. The fact that the cop told me that all cars with HID's are illegal should help. I will ask the judge how many fix-it tickets the cop has given to other people with these lights, and hopefully I can put together a harrasment case. I will do trial by writen declaration, so I'm pretty sure I can write a better case than the cop, if he even submits one at all.

I've been sent to the state ref before, and just last Sunday night I was pulled over for my exhuast, and now I have to see the state ref again.
From my last experience, I replaced my entire exhaust back to stock as well as my intake. Plus I had to put my stock cam gears back on, (if your cam gear cover is still on then they'll never know), and the only thing aftermarket on my car were the cams and my safc II. You'll have to pass the visual inspection, sound, and smog. Forunately you can pass smog with HKS cams like mine. But my stupid *** p0300 CEL came on the first time and I had to go back home, reset my battery and go back the next day.

I hope this helps.

That does help. It sounds like dialing the overlap out of the cams is a possible solution, if I get to that point. I'm hoping I don't even have to deal with that.

Did you have to pay some rediculous fine, or is that only if you don't want to go to the ref?

I forgot whether I paid a fine or not. But after this I'm definitely selling my exhaust and never going back to a canister exhaust again. I'm looking into the RSR ex-mag exhaust so I hopefully never get pulled for a "modified exhaust" again. Also I hope I can find my state ref papers from before and just photoshop the date on it. Good luck with yours.

Wait a second, they don't transmit the smog results electronically to the state like normal smog stations? They just give you a paper to send in?
