basically u dont have to smog untill 4 years after you buy the car.

i got a ticket in beverly hills for my exhaust.
they dont have 4wd smog stations there. what they had is a van that acts as a 2wd portable smog station.

i think the best they can do is rev your car in neutral or whatever.

That deffinitely helps us guys with 4wd, but my issue is at idle, because of the overlap on the cams. They spit out quite a bit of raw fuel at idle.

ahh, gotcha.
sux then. good luck. hopefully the inspector will not be too picky.

what sux is those guys cant really be lenient because they themselves get inspected on regular basis by undercover agents.
so he doesnt know if you actually work for the government and are testing him

I can't believe cops can pull you over for no reason when it comes to automobiles. If you are walking down the street and the cop starts asking you questions you can ignore him all you want, but once a car comes into the equation you have no more rights than a prisoner in Guantanimo.

I don't know of any other test for our cars, I think all they can do is a OBD2 diagnostic check, and send you on your way. seeing as I have never seen an 4wd smog station

Nope. If you got a ticket for say modified exhaust and you get pulled over 2 days later for the same thing, if you show them ur ticket, they can't give you another modified exhaust ticket. So if it has'nt been too long and you still have the old ticket even though you already took care of it.......

OK, so I will be the a$$hole here and say that apparently you have some not legally passable parts in the car, and you're worried. Deal with it, You knew this could be a problem, and now it's time to pay up. If you were not willing to deal with the consequences, you should have not modded the car. If the cop truly tagged you with something that was wrong, fight it, all the way. But you seem really worried about passing the inspection, so something with the car is obviously wrong (as far as the state is concerned, and you have listed your mods in your sig!!!!). Either restore the car to stock so you will pass, or.....suck it up.
Just my $0.02.

Well, after hearing ppl in CA got pulled over with stock exhaust, I am sure the cop can just pick on you and write you up for something else just to hassle you. He won't just pulled you over and let you go, he has be an a-hole put a dent to your day.

about 10 months ago here is san diego they had a mobile smog station. Cops would piont at you to pull over. put your car on rollers and do a complete smog inspection. If you failed you had 3 days to get the car in california vechile code. Some cars where towed for no insurance, non paided tickets, ect

Hold on... So cali. has to do tailpipe smog test on all cars even if they are OBD II? I thought in all states all you had to do for OBD II is just plug the machine into the OBD II port, but from what your saying you have to do a tailpipe test as well when you go to get emissions done?

WRONG

got 2 exhaust tickets in the period of 2 weeks....from the SAME department with the SAME court house address.
even showed the second cop the first ticket....he still wrote me up.

i'm not being a dick.....just stating what happened to me.

the first cop was such a dick that he even marked "non correctible violation" on the ticket.
of course judge threw it out in court
she said that it is impossible for a modified part to be non correctible.
since the cop was wrong she tore up the ticket.
