Are the Japanese aftermarket exhaust better than what is available in the United States?

I had a Tenabe exhaust on my last Eclipse GS-t and liked it, but I'm open to other options on this car.

So far most of the JDM pieces are still for the EVO VII and do not fit the US EVO due to our larger rear bumper cover requiring a couple additional inches to clear it. Go to the vendor section on this site or just do a search and you'll find what's available for the US EVO.

WORKS is taking pre-orders now on our "Exhale" exhaust for the U.S. EVO VIII.

We are selling the first 50 of these with shipping included for $379.00.

A few points about what makes the WORKS exhaust special:

- It comes with a complimentary re-flash of your ECU ("Brain" tune) to help you get the most out of your new exhaust. No one else offers this.

- It mounts up using all of the factory hardware -- perfect for taking it on and off quickly and easily. Want to put your stock exhaust back on before taking the car in for a service appointment? This one can be taken on and off in under 10 minutes.

- Since it does away with the factory muffler entirely and features our exclusive ultra-relaxed bend 3" tubing (only WORKS has the custom tooling to offer such a smooth transition), you get the smoothest possible exhaust flow without the weight of a muffler.

- It looks and sounds great. The entire piece is made in the U.S. out of T-304 stainless steel and the sound is throaty without any hint of boominess or exhaust drone in the cabin. It sounds perfect and the tip even follows the subtle curve of the U.S. EVO VIII bumper line (and features a beautifully engraved WORKS logo).

- Additional “stages” of exhaust upgrades from WORKS coming soon…

Thanks a nice lookin piece ! After already haveing a replacement muffler (good for 10 - 12 HP ) now I am upgrading to a full 3" turbo back - why play around! If you can make a nice muffler like that i am sure you can make a equally great 3" system !

I have the RMR 3" downpipe now and the Pruven 2.5" axel back muffler

Any dyno #'s?
Is it 2.5" or 3"?
What exactly does the reflash do?

Thanks, Alfred. More cutting-edge WORKS exhaust components will be coming soon (going all the way back to the turbo).

The exhaust is a full 3" in diameter and the reflash that comes with it optimizes the ECU mapping to account for the improved breathing characteristics and reduced back-pressure provided by the exhaust.

Official dyno numbers will be posted soon. Suffice it to say, our full 3" inch, gradual bend, mufflerless exhaust with appropriate ECU tuning is not going to disappoint.

If it didn't perform, we wouldn't sell it.

We designed our WORKS exhaust upgrade program from the ground-up to the be the ultimate staged exhaust upgrade package for the U.S. Lancer EVO VIII on the market.

That is one sweeet looking Exhaust Dave. When will works have a fullsystem including downpipe?

Some of the other products I have been looking at are from Greddy, HKS, Apexi, and JIC. I have not seen the Ralliart or the RMR? I have also heard that Thermal R&D has one available.
