Smelling like gear oil has nothing to do with anything. Even when the oil is new, it stinks.
Just an FYI

thats why im glad I do my own fluids. Its cheaper and have peace of mind some idiot mitsu tech isn't putting in the wrong fluids-iv've heard to many horror storys on here. Sounds like they messed up and your mods had nothing to do with it. Ask them what fluids they put in, get it in writing. If they put the wrong fluids in it doesn't matter what mods you had they caused the failure. Get a lawyer and give it to em'. Somebody has to becuase mitsu is getting away with murder on most of these evo warranties.

I have an 05 and just this past weekend i brought it to the track, raced twice and now have a whine/howl coming from the front of my car in 4/5th gear at cruise. Im like 10 min away from TurboTrix, how are they with a TC rebuild? I have no idea why mine went, i dont drop the clutch when i launch, i dont power shift. wtf, an i only have like 20k miles on the car.

shep is the best way to go for rebuilds IMO. But if you do go to turbo trix, let me know how it goes.

Hey Autobon, just out of curiosity, which dealership did your service and denied the repair under warranty?
