+1 the proper way is gear-neutral-gear, not jabbing.. Good luck hope everything works out.

Well I schedualed an appointment for wednesday. They said I should not worry about the warranty, the springs and filter will not void it.

I dont "jab" the car into gear. But I have only had it for 5 dyas, so perhaps the previous owner was a gear-jabber.

There is no possible way I could ignore this. I did not pay 26k for a car that I have to hold in neutral until idle during my 2-3 shifts. On the other hand, I dont want some dipsh*t mitsu tech working on my trans if it doesnt really need to be done...

Not at higher rpms (although the only time Im really at hig rpms is when Im shifting a lot faster, and there is no signs of grinding then) It sounds just like trying to put your car into reverse without the clutch (but not quite as drastic). Sometimes I will shift and it wont do it, but then the next time it does.

Theres a restrictor in the slave cylinder that slows the movment of fluid

x2. got mine 11 days ago, noticed a slight grind/clunk going into 3rd, but i'm pretty sure its just me not used to the tranny yet, and something i need to correct in my shifting patterns. i doubt mitsu would do anything anyways.

I wish mine were that simple. But when I slide the shifter out of second and towards third, but stay in neutral, I can feel somethig strange going on in there, and then when it settles, I can move it into third with no problem. But by that time I am idleing down the road. But if I don't wait and just clutch in and shift, I can hear and feel it scratching the gear.

I am trying to make this as detailed as possible

It seems most people have a slight grind going into 3rd or 2nd. Im going to replace my fluid with BG syncroshift hopefully by this weekend. Alot of people have fixed that slight grind by switching the synchroshift. Its supposed to be a thinner fluid, so it lubricates better, but doesnt offer the protection of the OEM fluid. Or like mentioned above replace the bushings and removing the restrictor pill.

Hmm...do you really want the mechanics at the dealerships taking your tranny apart?? They could do more harm then good. Personally I wouldn't trust them to do a simple oil change on my evo.

^^Yes I have thought about the fact that they could possibly mess something up, but at the same time, I would most likley notice if something isn't right.

They will probably end up just replacing the gear oil anyways. That should mask the problem until I get the bushings, clutch line and new oil

i noticed that my car seems like it wants to grind 3rd a little when i go from 1st to 3rd (when i'm going downhill from a stop). when i throw it into 3rd it feels like it barely scrapes a gear or something. but its fine other than that.

i have a retarded 1st gear...sometimes it goes into gear retarded and feels like it scrapes the side abnormally

i must reply to this one......sorry i dont mean to highjack the tread, but im getting tired of some people on here bashing dealership techs without having a clue what they are talking about. believe it or not there some of us that really know what they are doing and are good at it. sorry to rant but im sick of some of the no nothing idiots that put all of us in one group without knowing about who we are

anyway.....i also wanted to tell you i have had luck with changing the gear oil to the BG synchro mesh and also changing out the stock clutch hose with the ss one

i got problem with 3rd gear, before engine and trans was out it was just grinding, now i put everything back together, steel clutch hose, brand new stiff shifter bushings, fresh MT90 and....almost impossible to put 3rd in, i have to look for it, sometimes 1st another 5th is gonna get in, is there any chance to save it by changing into heavier oil or i have to replace synchros??
