Need For Blow Off Valve?

I have heard from many different people that a BOV doesn't do the evo any good. Is this true?

Not entirely true.. but...

The stock bov is only good for so much boost before it can't work effectively. It will have troubles holding excessive boost presures too i'm told.

So basically the mod is worthless unless your going to be running high boost :P

Not to mention atmospheric BOV hurt your power without a tune

you have a IX, there is no reason to change out the stock valve you have now unless you are running 25psi+, even then, there are plenty of guys who run 25-28psi on the stock IX valve

a BOV does not do anything the stock bypass/ diverter valve does. If its a VTA BOV, it makes a negative change (for the most part)

However, to say all BOVs do nothing is wrong. They prevent compressor surge and extend the life of your turbo, not to mention, sounding cool.

well from this statement, BOVs on evos do nothing except sound cool and hurt performance

i did not say that. I said that VTA BOVs are bad, and stock BOVs are ok for stock power

You need to have a BOV/DV on the car but it needs to be recirced. VTA BOV's do the EVO no good. Oh and you cant tune your car to work with a VTA valve you need to convert to a speed density or Blowthrough MAF setup to use VTA BOV's.

To sum it up, The statement you made is true and isnt's true. It IS true because alot of people throw on some BOV when they are completely stock or when it is not needed and that DOES hurt the evo's performance. It's NOT true because at some point some people need to upgrade simply because they are running higher boost. For example, i have the 35r running 33lbs of boost. The stock evo or the stock MR bov wont handle that boost so i had to get a new bov. I have a complet standalone tuned to speed density which DOES NOT hurt my performance.

There is always the Forge Evo15 DV as an alternative (https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=227324). Same setup as stock, except you can change out the springs to hold more boost.

No, that Forge DV is not good for the Evo. You do not want to be changing springs. The proper Forge to get is the Forge RS with the adjustable knob.

Diverter Valves are good for the Evo. The stock IX DV is awesome.

Blow-off Valves are not good for an Evo unless it no longer uses the MAF.

We also lump all diverter valves and blow-off valves into the term "BOV", so I'm sure you just got confused.

I've only had my Evo a couple days and it has a VTA BOV and I'm already starting to get tired of it.

there are ONLY 2 uses for a BOV.

1) you want the Pshhhh sound, which hurts the performance of your car

2) your stock BOV can't hold up to the amount of boost you're running...so you need a stronger DV or BOV

i'm running 23 psi why would the forge evo15 be bad? i just got mine for a good price under $100???

should i go back to the stock ix dv and sell the evo15???

i was wondering why forge priced it so low for sell, maybe this product is really defective and they want to sell it dirt cheap to get rid of them because they probably will never sell them again???

I had a question, I was thinking of getting the GFB Stealth BOV and I was wondering if that would hurt performance as well?
