You're an idiot, as well as the creator of this thread.

There is a reason to hate on 17 year old's with evos. Why? Because they obviously dont have the experience. Sure you may know how to drive a car, but I'm sure that kids will think an Evo is a god, and it can handle anything. Which in turn they will ride the **** out of it, push it past the limits of the car one day and crash.

It happens all the time. I'm 21 now, and know I can't drive the evo the way it's supposed to be driven, and probably won't until I get much more time behind the wheel on a track. The problem is, kids think the streets are a track. I'm guilty of this myself in the past, but I learn from my mistakes. Hopefully the creator will learn as well. He put himself and the rep from the dealership in danger.

How the hell do they expect to sell you a car if they don't let you test drive it

I spent a whole afternoon jumping back and forth bewteen an STi and en Evo VIII back in 2003. If the Mitsu dealer didn't let me drive the Evo, I would have walked.

I can only hope the creator of this thread goes with one of the 5 other vehicles he has told us he is getting in the past 6 months instead of an Evo. All I need is more negative reactions to my car in Orland because of negligent owners...

South Holland Mitsu lets kids beat up on brand new Se IX's, huh? Guess thats another dealer to steer clear of...

wether you guys like it or not i am getting a evo i made this thread to tell you that the evo i drove was a blast not to have you guys put me in a minority circle of few people. if my parents are paying for it its my business not yours and so keep to your business if i dont ask either. there are kids that are 15 and half around here geting mustang gt's and stis and no one is saying to them i waited and saved for this car since around 8th grade and if i have been saving for this long a few people over the internet arnt happy, well thats to ba for you. no i do not like street racers or riceburners... i dont aprove of that at all because my insurance is high enough as is and dont need my dad kicking me off his name so i wont be street racing at all...and plus its winter im ganna try to take it easy now especially with teh stock tires and this temps..

Your keeping the stock tires on in winter??? Ill keep my eye out for you in ditches then. Seriously, if your actually getting an Evo (as opposed to the BMW, G35, amoung other cars you talked about prior) do yourself a favor and get some winter tires. Orland is decent about street upkeep in winter, but the temps and any moisture will make for a near impossible commute.

And to back his statements up, I do see a lot of young kids around Orland (Chicago suburb) with nice/expensive/fast cars. I also see those cars pulled over and wadded up a lot by the same young drivers...

Im from Schaumburg/Inverness/Palatine area (near Woodfield Shopping Mall) and you are definitely right. Quite a few nice cars around here.

And... Definitely get all season/winter tires. I've drove a few Evos in the snow, some with and without new tires. Let me be the first to tell you that it might have AWD, but anything with near zero grip is dangerous. Ask my friend, he hit a tree going down my driveway in his Evo, and he was going very slow... (Just a slight dent)

I think its really sad that your parents are willing to just fork out the cash to buy you such an expensive/powerful car, but like you said, that truly is none of our business. You should not have mentioned your age on this forum because many of us hate young Evo drivers, as they tend to wreck their Evo with the first couple hundred miles of driving them (sometimes injuring/killing themselves and or other innocent people). Here is some good advice:

-DO NOT drive like an idiot on public roads. I suggest you sign up for track days or SCCA solo events ASAP to get all aggressive driving out of your system in a safe and encouraging environment. These events will also teach you how to handle the Evo and lessen the chance of a wreck on public roads. They are also very fun

-Buy a radar/laser jammer/detector. If you don't, you won't be driving your Evo for very long until mom and dad can't afford your insurance anymore. Also resist the temptation of street racing. If you are caught, you will lose your driver's license.

-If it snows or rains, slow the **** down. 90% of all Evo accidents seem to happen in the rain. Don't think for a second you are invincible on slick surfaces just because you have AWD.

-Don't drive when you are high or drunk. This should go without saying, but you are in still in High school and we all know how that goes...

If you follow these guidelines, you and your Evo might stand a chance of surving. Good luck!

P.S. If my parents had bought me an Evo when I was 16/17, I can honestly say with absolute 100% certainty that I would be dead. I really hope you are more mature than most your age.

no have learned my mistakes on our cars....3 to be exact and i had to pay for all of them i had 600 dollars in the bank account 2 weeks ago and now its 9.87...long story short...rain+prius +curb= new control arm and tire...i am lucky enough to know enough about cars to install teh control arm and just bought a oem rim from ebay....but yea i definatly have never tried any drugs and nor do i drink im the one usually called out and asked to pick people up...most people thank me and give me 5-10 bucks...i dont mind as long as they dont get themselves or anyone hurt...and im not dumb and read alot and yes i am getting winter tires out ofmy own pocket because my parents beleive in the holy allseasons and frontwheel drive gods....i prefer to ditch out the 2 paychecks on a set of curbed up enkies and some snow tires... and i know that you dont hit the brakes or let go of the gas when your rear breaks loose but rather just let the fom pull you out while feathering the gas...thanks guys for helping me rather than just being ignorant to me...

i just hope you end up with the same car that you beat the crap out of when the evo needs a proper break-in period. then in a few 1000 miles when your puffing blue smoke out the exhaust, you'll realize what an azz you've been to a car that someone else may have bought and ended up with oil consumption and clutch problems thanks to a 17 year old that's spoiled.

So wait...

Your getting an Evo, yet you wrecked a Prius in the rain??? I understand accidents can happen to anyone at any time, but perhaps that incident should cause you to reflect on if your really ready for an Evo. Well that and the fact that you have admitted you have had 3 accidents and are only 17... (17, right?)

If I was a betting man, Id bet that one Evo IX SE purchased from South Holland Mitsu will have an incredibly short life. Its on you to prove us wrong I guess, if you actually get this car... Post up pics upon purchase. Good luck.
