car jerking and shaking

tell me if i dont know how to drive stick or is it the car. This is my first manual tranny but have driven my dads vette many times. With the evo when i give it a lot of gas and get off the gas suddenly to stop or slow the car jerks like i just dumped the clutch kind of. Is it just normal with a manual or is it the turbochaged car b/c the vette never did this. Tell me if it is the way i drive.

Its the way you drive, AWD needs a little more gas to start it going I usually rev it up to about 1200-1000 RPM then let the clutch go slowly.

+1 if your really smooth there should be minimal shock. practice rev matching between upshifts & downshifts.

Sounds good - hard to say not knowing exactly what's going on.

What does "off the clutch" mean?

This may help: www.standardshift.com

tell me what im doing wrong
You need to take some time, get to know the car and learn how to drive a manual transmission. At the risk of sounding rude, if you don't have an automatically generated feel for trying the logical options, this is the wrong car for you in more ways that one.

My car does that sometimes too... and don't tell me how to drive. Sometime when I let off the gas it does a little jerk, but sometimes it doesn't. It can happen at any RPM or in any gear. Its just something you have to get used to I guess. doesn't seem like people have any useful information besides telling you its the way you drive. I mean seriously, if you are trying to slow down, what could possibly be wrong with the driving style by just letting of the gas?

Actually, I posted a link to a site that can help a great deal. You may want to have a look, too.

I think what your talking about it is when your going slow in first then abruptly let
off the throttle and the cars bucks and shakes. This is due to the weak front
motor mount. Upgrade to a powerflex motor mount and it helps a lot.

hmmm.. the motor mount, never thought of that... It sounds like a cheap investment for a smoother ride....
