Track or drag strip?

I'm new here and I haven't seen this post in a search. I'm just wondering how everyone here races their Evo. Obviously, it was designed as a road going rally car, however, most talk I see is along the lines of gaining massive horsepower for the drag strip and making quick quarter mile times. I, myself, am interested in road racing. I 've already taken a few driving classes and intend to really have it on the track a lot this next spring. My goal bhp is probably around 350 hp. Eihter way, strip or track, Evos rock!!!

There is a higher number of participants for drag racing however the Evo does very well in both events.

I may have misunderstood, but did you say you didn't find any posts about road racing when you searched?

taking peoples money on the street is always fun, but being on the track is amazing. I love road racing it, it's a beast and it's set up from the factory.

and of course the more you mod, the better it gets.

its a good thing you learn how to drive your car before putting the money into mods. Smart move.

yeah, the majority of people will say "man, the clutch life sucks".

Thats an easy way to say that they're a street ricer. (or at least a straightline person.)

For those of us with other ideas, like open tracking, Check the front calipers on an evo, it can tell you a lot about the owner.

there are far more drag strip then road coarse around. it's all about accessibility. people prefer drag because it's closer and cheaper to enter. i used to do drag racing with Hondas but now i do autox with the evo. i would love to put the evo on a road coarse but the nearest track is 2.5 hours away and track day usually cost $200/day.

A misconception is that most EVO owners solely into drag racing, this is untrue. While a lot of EVO owners do partake in a local drag night in their cities, a majority of EVO owners prefer to do both, road racing/auto crossing and a little drag racing on the side. I did a poll on this subject a little over a year ago, and these were the results.

I am a track *****. I've done 2 events in the last month with the Evo and I have 3 events at VIR-Full coming up between this month and December. Then nothing until season starts back up with NASA in Feb.
