I think im going crazy

Is it just me or does it seem like everyone is having problems with their syncros? I think i am going insaine worrying about mine now because i have read so many storys about them. I have a notch going 2nd to 3rd which is pretty typical i guess except for i think my notch my be more notchy than otheres. Even when the tranny is warmed up i tend to get a significant knock putting it into 3rd. Which brings me to my point, How much does it cost to have a syncro replaced?

yeah man those dsm syncros are a b*tch but if you change/add a few things like ss clutch line, motor mounts, clutch or just simply ship your TC and Tranny to shepard for a full rebuilt you will love your car even more!!!

i currently have a little over 10k miles on the car and the notchiness/slight grind is still there. i've tried everything to get rid of it. installed brass underhood and shifter base bushings, changed out all motor mounts to the powerflex ones, and changed tranny fluid. the only thing left to do is adjusting the clutch pedal which i will be doing this weekend. it did get a lot better than before, but it is still noticable and still happens when the tranny is fully warmed up. what i do is, i just shift into 3rd slowly when shifting at low rpms and it goes in smoothly. i think you should just take it slow when shifting at low rpms. correct me if i'm wrong, i think if its a bad synchro it would even do it when shifting in high rpms.

The oem fluid is like cold molasses. I HIGHLY recommend pennzoil synchromesh (exact same thing as gm synchromesh). BG II is great as well, but is harder to find and is more expensive. Switching to these fluids have remedied many "rough shifting" issues with many DSM & Evo transmissions, I'm sure it will probably do the same for yours.

I have the same problem, I tried to get it warrantied but they told me it was normal. And my third gear actually grinds.

Get new gear oil, like Redline mt-90, and a ss clutch line and even shifter bushings, and it will go away most likely.

i find notchiness has a lot to do with the weather. if my car sits under the sun for a while it shifts like butter... in cold weather even if the car is in operating temp, it is still notchy. maybe its jusst me
