i would say that your are looking the 10K mark to kill the stock Z06. Don't forget that along with the engine upgrades you need to upgrade the tranny... a decent clutch kit goes for 2K.

Do a GT35R stock internals, head studs, cams, tune etc... and you might stand a chance...

don't forget stock Z06s can do a high 11sec 1/4 mile completely stock so you even lose the advantage of launching and to tell you the truth if you launch with the GT35R and the stock tranny there's a huge possibility to destroy it...

It can be done but you need MONEY... and don't forget we are still talking for a stock Z06...

Cool

Best chance would be to spend $3500 on the Skip Barber racing school and get some road course time under your belt. Afterward invite him to your favorite course so that he "can show you how fast his car is", then smoke him because he is clueless. I instruct for the NV Corvette Club and there are plenty of Vette drivers that hate my Evo and/or GVR4, including plenty of C6 Z06 drivers. The C6 Z06 is no joke and put even a moderate driver in the vette and it can make for a long day on a HP track. So go and tighten up that loose nut behind the wheel and give it a shot

Easy! buy mine LOL

JK I have a 07 Z06 coming and it won't stay stock long just like the Evo.

TT for the Z.

One of my friends has a 35r, all bolt on's, stock block 30psi-C16 and he ran a 11.1 @ 131mph at Norwalk and that would probably do it to beat the Z in the 1/4 but up top the Z pulls hard up to 198 and with a couple of simple bolt on's and a tune ....well Guys are already hitting in the 10's.

Although theres one guy named Ranger on Corvette forms thats kinda like the Curt Brown of the vette world and he has gone 11.2 @128 just on DR. Car is bone stock and his times keep going down and he will hit high 10's for sure as he is getting the launching of the car down. I guess it isn't easy.

That is a tough project. The vette is still lighter, has great torque and awsome aerodynamic. I would say you need no less than $10000 to be ahead.

I think Kenny Rogers summed it up best when he said, "'know when to hold em...know when to fold em'".

i think a lot of people are missing the point that he is talking about the new c6 zo6. stock, this is THE fastest production car on the market under 100k. if you are just going straight, you may have the car considering that the zo6's 0-60 is 3.7. I don't have too much experience with gt 35's, but i'm guessing if you launch you'll definitey have him off the line. but on a track, stock for stock, the new z06 would rape the evo. However, the evo would probably be able to put up a good fight with the z06 with bpu's maybe a 50 trim or 3076, new sway bars, coilovers, and other susepnsion work. The c6 zo6 is a beast. The whole chassis was engineered and made in germany. The car is made out of aluminum, magnesium, and carbon fiber, meaning alotta weight savings. Overall, the car is just soo well balanced, and it's "almost" unstoppable.

Here is an Evo beating a Chevy. I know its not a z06 but a car built like this can give the z06 a good race.

Z06s can do high 11s in 1/4 mile... I'm sure if your friend spent like 5 bucks on his z06, he'll hit 10s. Don't bother competing with American cars in straight lines. He has better power to weight, gearing, and aero. Evo traction only goes so far, after that, you start noticing the limitations of 2.0L engines.

you can alreadyat least whole shot him, z06's are high 11's low 12's out of the box, minimal cost to get your car there i would say.....

-Boost controller- 50 bucks and up the boost to 25 psi
-Ecu flash- 200 i belive so you dont boost cut and have it work with your mods
-3'' exhaust if you find a custom shop you can go to jegs and get 4ft sections of 3'' exhaust for like $14.00 a piece youll need 3 of them and probabally 3 U bends for DP, and axle bend
So about $100.00 for materials and probabally 3 hours of labor at about $65.00 total about $300.00
- drop in filter 25.00 r just take the stock one out.
-Boost gauge $50
- Bigger front mount $300
-Hard pipe kit probabally around $200 if you buy the piping and have a custom shop fab it up.

this is probabally the cheepest way to go money wise and you will be in the 12's if your a decent driver.

your looking at about $1,200 to do this, or if you dont want to fiddle with a custom exhaust add 600 for a decent 3'' TBE so..

$$2000 with 3'' "store buy" exhaust..

But hell still get you on the highway most likely thost this are highway monsters..
