racing a 4-cyl against an 8-cyl is a win win situation....because if you win it is time to shine, and if you lose...well they have twice the number of cylinders so what do you expect(and it was problaly close too)

Its the same with every car actually. Not every evo will run the same time even though they are identical. However, I do beleive lot of it has to do with the driver.
Would you like to see my build Sheet? Don't tell me what I've got into my car. Call AMS if you'd like, I welcome you to do so. BTW it still needs a few things that I plan on doing over the winter. Originally Posted by SKILMATIC

I just went out to fontana a couple weeks back and saw a stock z run and it was running mid-low 12's. Basicaly what I would run on a few bolt ons. So I just dont see every stock z cutting those times. Its the same with every car actually. Not every evo will run the same time even though they are identical. Also it would take another 7-10k with supporting extras and labor to move up to the 42r set up beleive me I know I went back and fourth on that one. I have the same set up now that Dan B had (710whp) before he went with the 42r (880)whp and the only difference is that I'm running the new AMS twin 1000cc Fuel rail system (allows the car to run smoother) than 1600's. The AMS drag car, Dan's and mine all have the twin FR set up. In fact I think they are now selling it to the public.
I think you are not quite in touch with what it takes to build a 9 sec car like mine or Dans, Chris, AMS, Buschur shop car etc.etc. BTW I just added the invoices and it came to just about 42k on top of the Evo so unless your going to do ALL THE WORK YOURSELF AND TUNE you will never get a 42r set up DONE CORRECTLY with supporting mods for 30k. Period.
As far as stock Z's running low 11's high 10's Yes you have to be a good driver but that is true with any car. I seen stock Evos as you said that should be in the low 13's run 14's and even 15's (bad driving).
Once again I will show you what a good driver can do with a bone stock Z on DR's. and another Z with no DR's. Why do you have a problem giving an AM car the credit it deserves? Have you ever driven one? had a ride in one? I think you really don't know. It has taken a while for guys to get the launch down on the new Z so the numbers out there were in the low 12's high 11's when the car first came out.
Think about it how many cars come off the showroom that can run these time in the 1/4 with +125mph traps and go on to 198mph top speed. Plus drive daily with no issues. Beleive me a built Evo or any of the High HP Evo's I have mentioned here and I have had MANY talks with the owners ( some are friends) and they are either strick track cars or at best taken out on the streets just for a show or meet once in a while and not very often on race gas map. Thats why AMS said to me you probably have the ultimate street Evo set up (nice weather only) and DON"T GO TO A 42R for the street.
The splits on the two best passes were: This guy ran bone stock no DR's
60'........1.722
330'......4.750
660'......7.208 101.01
1000'.....9.302
1320'...11.066 127.80 1320'.
This is the video of Rangers run bone stock on just DR's. He is a good driver.

Like I said 2 times on this thread when I get the Z and in the spring just for the fun of it I'll run the Evo vs the Z on my pump map, pump/meth and just for fun on C-16 map. I will post the results. Then I will begin to put bolt on's the Z and get a tune and then do some more. Again just for fun.
I have spent enough time trying to say what I posted early on in this thread. It is an apples to oranges comparision period. 2 great cars for the money.

BTW most 40r 's are dog's ( bad turbo lag ) Do you see any of the high hp cars AMS, Buschur, AL, Dan B that have great track times/records running them and do you have any idea what a dog box costs?

In comparisons like this saying, "Oh all you need to do is ..... for $30k and it'll smoke that thing!", is pointless because you’re still driving an Evo and he's still driving a C6 Z06. I agree that anything beating the Z is impressive (obviously), especially if it is much less powerful to start with. And the "Well see what happens when it snows", BS is absolutely retarded. Lets compare the Evo to a Hummer H1 - see what happens when you have to scale near 90 degree rock clusters...? ...Your Evo is 0wn3d!!!1!! It's s stupid thing to say...
With all that said, I have (know of) a NEON that will likely run any Evo on this site for PINK SLIPS. What are you afraid to lose to a NEON in your 700 AWHP EVO?!
The Neon runs low 8's - high 7's... you put enough money into anything, and it will beat anything.

True it all has to do with driver. I know 2 people with 04' Z06's one runs 12.90's-13.10's@110-112mph. He is more of a collector type and would do nothing to harm the famed Z06. His buddy, younger guy, is all about records and runs 12.10-12.20's@117-119mph on a bone stock 04' Z06 except a air filter.Originally Posted by SKILMATIC

It has been proven that a stock C6 Z06 can run 10's@129mph regardless if the average or even above average driver can do the same.

You mean stock engine. If it's good drag radials on it, it's not stock.Originally Posted by Jasil

Not doubting the Z06 is extremely fast but that 10 second pass everyone is talking about was not done bone stock, I'm not talking about any other runs.Originally Posted by WhtEvo05

Hey guys this thread has gone way OT.
I 'm sorry if I was a part of it but Skilmatic was questiing my word on what I have into my Evo and I let him get under my skin . BELEIVE ME I WISH IT DID COST LESS. LOL
I just think he doesn't have an idea how many little things that add up on a build like mine that are not the obvious mods in most profiles of high hp cars.
Also to say that you could get a complete 42r built Evo ( car not included ) with all supporting mod for 30k well I'd like to see him do it or better yet good God bless him if he can.
I also agree with Green Goblin - If you put enough money into any car you can make it fast, faster, very fast, crazy fast BUT THERE IS ALWAYS SOMEONE WHO IS FASTER.

Its not being tight wadded. Its having common sense and full command of the English language. BONE STOCK means NO MODS, like the car came out of the factory. DR's are a modification end of story. The guy is a great driver, so be it - but his car is not BONE STOCK anymore.Originally Posted by Green_Goblin
I don't get the sarcasm. The car is BONE STOCK with different tires. I still consider any car in the world with different tires bone stock. No need to be tight-wadded about it.

You could have a Geo Metro with $30k into it and dust an Enzo, is that a testament to the Geo's design...? Who ever has the deepest pockets wins.
BS. That's the ricer logic I'm talking about. I haven't seen any hard tuned Metros beating anything and proving themselves in motorsports. I have seen Evos setting records and doing amazing things and creating buzz throughout the industry. You could have a Geo Metro with $30k into it and dust an Enzo, is that a testament to the Geo's design...? I'll agree with you on that without DR"s the above times are about as low as I've seen by some of the better drivers but there are more and more of these type time slips coming in lately. I think they are starting to get their launchs down.

I would hope so with your car.
BTW nice set up and a very good tuner.
