How long ago? We are talking about the c6 Z06 not the C5. There is a huge difference!

This debate is never ending...

I currently own a modded C6 Corvette (604 RWHP). The last new car I had was a modded WRX (332 AWHP). I can speak from experience that each has its pros and cons...

The WRX was great because of AWD traction, being able to smoke unsuspecting sports cars more than twice its price, and... well... that's about it. What sucked is the fact that I got a lot of unwanted attention from cops, and I was in need of a built motor/ tranny to continue to run that power level (or more) safely.

The C6 is great because I can smoke unsuspecting cars more than twice its price, cruise with the top off, not worry about the cops f'ing with me, pay lower insurance than the WRX, get 30 mpg on the highway, ... I can go on and on. What sucks about it is that the only guys that want to run me are on bikes.

Apples and oranges. I will likely be buying either an Evo or a STi (in addition to the C6) in the near future to give me the few things I miss that the C6 lacks.

When it comes to comparing a highly modded Evo to a stock C6 Z06, I believe mathgeek said it best with, "Chris' car is a bit impractical. It is not street legal and so I couldn't drive it on a regular basis. The Z06 is drivable every day. $40K is a bit much for me to spend on something that is so unpredictable." At $70k vs. $70k the better choice is all up to personal preference... Me, I'll take the Z06, with OEM reliability and put on 2k in mods to run 10's reliably.

Either way, both cars are sick, and I am a fan of both. Just don't let your personal bias get in the way of facts.

(BTW, the Nurburgring tests were with a stock Z06 )

I saw a vid of a C6 ZO6 vs the "Crawford STi" at SOW and the STi could not pass the stock Z. At the end, the Z just let him by.

This is the same STi that beat the Muellerized Evo at the same track. So....

Well put! It's like comparing Apples to Oranges. the Z and Evo are both great cars and great performance bargins in there own right. But any car with enough money in it can beat a Z or Evo etc. etc.

1st run - Evo on pump (93oct) vs Z
2and run - Evo on pump/meth vs Z
3rd run - Evo on C-16 vs Z

Of course on a track

goood damn luck.. as stated above, ranger just hit a 10.85 @129 in his stock zo6..(dr).. And they only accel better the faster you go... Lsx engines keep pulling, unlike the evo's peaky powerband.. Not to mention gearing, weight, drag ...

Id say youd need 600+awhp to hang iwth a stock z06 after 120....that is until his gearing takes him to 199mph..

Yeah it will hold it fine but for how long? Yes, there are a hand full of people that are running over 500wheel on the stocker but we dont know how long they will be good for. I DO KNOW OF A LOCAL GUY WHO OWNS A SHOP THAT WAS RUNNING OVER 500WHEEL for over a year hwever, in a year he only drove like 6000miles so thats not a real adequte correlaton to reliabilty. He was running a 35r setup. However, my notion was "reliably" and we dont know yet if doing such a thing is relaible. Because Ihavent yet met anyone who is runnin over 500wheel on a stock block that hasover 50000miles on their setup. Nowremember I said I dont know of anyone so maybe they are out there but I just havent heard of them.

The pointbeing is that running over 500wheel with a built bottom end is muc more safer then running it without one. I THINK WE CAN AT LEAST AGREE ON THAT.

Also you dont haveto change the gearing to get to 160mph because a stock evo can hit 175 and it can get there pretty quickly. And when modded it gets there a whole lot faster.

When Top Gear tested the Z06 around their track, it not only wasted the regular Evo VIII's times it also blew out the FQ-400's time. The Z06 did the Nurburgring in something like 7 min 45 sec. Talk about bad info!
No I am not kidding you cause its already been done by me(and note I am not a professional race car driver either and my car was basically stock at the time). NOW WE CAN GO BACK AND FORTH ALL DAY AND DISCUSS THE DYNAMICS OF THE CAR OR THE DRIVER. However, the point remains that its doable.

Also nurburgring is not a course like willow. It has far more straights and the turns arent as tite as streets of willow- basically you cant even equivocate the 2. So again yes there is some bad info on here.

Why don't you go back to the Camry forums
No they arent. You cant drive one in the snow. You cant drive one in gravel. If they are superior "all around" how come you dont see them in WRC? Now granted there are areas where it is superior but its not superior all around. Pound for pound dollar for dollar the evo is the best car to buy hands down!

Well I am not suprised cause I beat the crawford racings sti when I was basically stock. I was running around 330wheel with a couple bolt ons. I was able to cut better 60's and better rt's. HOWEVER, I traped 90 in the 1/8 and he trapped 98 in the 1/8. Its all about the rt and 60ft.

This could be go on forever.

Quite simple 2 great cars and both a performace bargin in there competitive markets.

I already stated I'll do some test runs when I get the Z before I start putting some mods on.

I think it will be fun to see what it takes to beat the Vette with my Evo.

Also Wakins Glenn is in my back yard lets see how the Evo on pump ( Still puttin out close to 500 whp ) compares to the Z on the track.

This will have to wait till spring though. Snows about to fall.

What if you don't like to drive nice cars in ****ty conditions? A Toyota Tacoma is better than my C6 in the snow, but it's not a better sports car... It is pointless to compare.
