whistle as it spools...

i just got 20g-9-5 with turboxs intercooler installed at a shop... my car was in a accident but everything was fixed... i used the buschurracing racing wastegate actuator mininum boost is 22psi+ but thats what im boosting at... the weird thing is.. when i got the car back...they told me it was boosting really high but i thought the bigger intercooler would lower the boost... my car was boosting 27psi but i was tuned at 22psi... i checked all my setting on my ebc and its all normal so i turn down the boost and now its around 22.5psi

but ever since i turn it down... i heard a whistling noise, not sure if turbo or not... but once i hit the gas slightly...the whistle comes on and gets louder and louder as it hits full boost... i thought its probaly a leak somewhere but it didn't do it when the was at 27psi though..

another thing is... when i boost butnot hittin full boost maybe around 17psi and let go of gas.... the psi fluctuates like crazy... and so does the blow off valve... and car studders... its driving me nuts... the turbo seem fine... any suggestions???

it holds boost if i just slam on it.. if i just let go partial throttle.. the boost starts fluctuating... i still get the whistle sound nevertheless...

sounds almost like surge....also check your turbo outlet pipe. A lot of times ppl don't tighten down that as good as they think which will cause a whistling sound.

The FP 5 blade wheel has a definite "spool up sound". It is normal. However, make sure to check for leaks anyway!

Well yeah, it does that on every single Evo. You can't drive part throttle partial boost, man.

Everyone that I've ever heard complain of a whistle under boost was a boost leak. The one I've seen even myself, was a friends car who had a slit in one of their hoses going to the intake manifold which acted like a balloon under pressure and would really whistle.

Especially seeing as how you just had stuff done to your car. My bets are a boost leak.

it sounds like there is a leak between the o2housing and the hotside.. i'm going to double check the torque...because even during idle.. i can hear a slight whining sound coming from there

thanks... i'll check the leaks if i have any....

one more thing... i been researching this forum... i dont know if its just me or the car but since i got the back.. the injector clicks signicantly louder... the car runs fine... some people said its an indication of bad injectors ... others said it was normal... any ideas?? i can hear it inside the cabin when idling...

i dont know.. its probaly due to the different size turbo... the car seem to have a whole new personality... would running 23psi on pump gas be a problem? the wga is meant to operate a minium of 22-23 psi..
