Evotico, yes, the IX has a 10.5 hotside, but so did all of the 05s. The main difference in the IX's turbo is the larger compressor housing. The MIVEC helps, and that is the "difference in cams," but there are also coolant passages in the head that allow for more boost for a given octane.

Donmeca, IXs make _A LOT_ more power both in stock form and with mods, especially with mods. There is an upper limit where the power evens out, but with stg1 mods, there is no comparison, and it's not a driver's race in most cases.
so warr are you saying that i dont have a chance?

ok so lets weigh out my chances. he has a stock evo IX with subs, and an audio system. i have an evo VIII with o2 housing, tbe w/o cat, licp, no back seats, mbc, wingless, ce28's with falken azenis rt 615's
i think that my VIII will beat his ix at a strip dont you?
1. i am lighter
2. i think i will have better launch b/c of my tires, and b/c he has never launched his car hard before
3. i dont know if i have more power than him or not but i hope i do...

warrtalon, i beg to difer with you. true there is alot of aftermarket support since the 9 has been out, yes they can make good power. but why are all the high HP evos 8s? yes i know they were hear before the 9s. but as i said i havent seen any 9 SOO Magnificent that i could actually say their that much better. yes they are making up t4 or 500 hp. i havent seen them get any further then that. as for the 8s you see many daily driven and shop cars that are putting out what 700 or above.

Probably because no one is doing that or never post it.

But I think there is an IX with 600whp+ or more. I can't remember who it was and where I saw the post.

yah pruven performance has an ix with i think 700 whp. i think the problem with the ix's not reaching good power is noone has figured out mivec enough and there arent any high lift cams for the ix's yet. and i havnt heard of anyone doing headwork to a ix yet so i dont know if you can do that on a mivec engine

Donmeca, I'm not talking about highly modded IXs vs VIIIs. Once you remove the stock turbo, it doesn't matter. We're talking about lightly-modded VIIIs and IXs and how big the difference is due to the turbo, MIVEC, and revised head. Eventually, IXs may make bigger power numbers with gigantic turbos, but I don't really care about that. It's too early for them to have done enough R&D to compete with the VIIIs that are cheaper and that have been getting tested for years now.

Yeah these "Evo owners" over at the Srt Forums don't seem to understand that. Ignorance.

Is this a question?

So who won at the strip? Or has it not happened yet?

Quit forum racing and just go do it already. Its been over 2months and you are still worried about him beating you.
Who the hell cares? Just race him, if you win, you win; if you loose.. well tough ****. If it effects you that much, then go drop some more $$ in your car so you can beat him.

seeing that there is like a foot of snow on the ground outside my house i dont think racing is an option until the tracks open in april... and of course we cant go do highway runs because street racing is bad. i was just trying to get your opinion on who you think would be the fastest...
