evo VIII vs evo IX

one of my friends just got an evo ix mr and i got a ride in it yesterday. i was so supprised because it didnt feel that fast, i truely think that my evo VIII is faster and all that i have is an exhaust. (he is stock). also i noticed that his car stock sounded way different than my car w/ stock exhaust. do you think something is wrong with his car that makes it sound different, or am i just imagining that my car is faster. i want to go down to the drag strip with him to truely see who is faster and from what i have read on the forums the evo ix's dominate the viii's but i dont know mine just felt faster, do you think i have a chance?

It's probably because you're used to your aftermarket exhaust note...I'm not too certain if MIVEC would change exhaust note...but they should sound same/identical

If your car was properly tuned with exhaust, then it should be more of a driver's race...if it wasn't tuned, then he should have an edge

The IX has a slightly louder exhaust than the VIIIs do in stock form.

IX FTW!

your 8 has aftermarket parts. he is stock

you RODE in your friends 9, which is totally different than driving it.

if you have a tune then you should take him. but if your "exaust" is just a catback, then you probably wont.

i have a turboback but i thought that stock ix's were = or a little better than VIII's with tune and exhaust and my turbo felt like it hit way harder than his, i am going down to the track with him in a few weeks so i'll post the results

In stock trim(completely unmodded) a 05 Evo 8 and a 06 Evo 9 are very similar in performance. You are talking maybe .1 or .2 tenth better for the Evo 9.

They do all sound the same.

ix ftw...

It has soon to yield some great power with few mods and can take more boost than the 8 on pump gas.
