Exhaust louder all the sudden

I've had my exhaust for about 6 months. I replaced the muffler about 2 months ago becuase the tip fell off. Anyways I noticed that my exhaust got louder, like its slightly deeper and more noisy(my friend noticed the same thing). I understand that it takes time to break in and it gets a little louder in the process but this was pretty noticable. Would anyone have any idea as to why this happend? any help would be appreciated, thanks....

I would check and make sure you dont have an exhaust leak. Same thing happened to my integra and it had a rust hole near the cat. I know your car is newer and exhaust is new so i doubt its a rust thing but maybe theres a problem were it meets up with the cat

Thanks for the input, but would a leak cause a deeper more bassy tone? Anything else it could be?

edit: I dont have a cat

A leak could explain it, there would be exhaust noise closer to the driver area, which would make it sound louder to you.

If water gets in the muffler (could be from washing the car) and hits the fiberglass packing it will breakdown the fiberglass packing really quick causing it to get louder faster..

i learned this from a exhaust company i was sponsored by when i raced motocross

could be the same thing happening..but also could be something else

Unless you have an exhaust leak, the insulation in the exhaust probably burned out. That insulation usually keeps the exhaust a bit quieter until it all gets burned out.

This sounds like it could be the problem becuase here in portland its been raining like no other and on top of that i ran through like 3 big puddles. Will this noise go away or would i have to get a new muffler?

if thats the case and the fiberglass packing is messed up than the sound wont quiet down, its already too late and it will need new packing...

i dont know if these types of mufflers can be re-packed or not...maybe someone can chime in?
