??

As the comments previous to mine mentioned overnight parking, I didn't think it was out of line to assume they weren't leaving the cars at the store.

Do you park yours outside?
Yes mine is out in the Miami Sun for the most part of the day...whenever i'm not using it i throw a car cover over it...
...also, what about work places...some people can't keep the car sheltered at all times...i personally don't have that luxury...wish i did.
Couple places where i park with good faith:
gym
movies
restaraunt
mall (going with your gf is not an in and out thing)

Some people live in apartments that own evo's. Some people are renting houses that either don't have garages, or have too much stuff in the garages. Me personally, my car is garaged every day. I dunno if the evo is easy to hot wire or not. I thought we had those little chips on our keys that wouldn't let the evo start up without it.

I cant speak for everyone, but I am in the miltary, have lived in barracks and a apartment with my evo. I love my car buts its not a 100k car, its a daily driver that was made to be looked at, not stored.

cedricredrs.........welcome to the world of owning an EVO. Show me a an EVO owner who is not paranoid about getting their car stolen and I'll show u a liar. Just be aware of where u park whenever u go out. Even at home you, just like a lot of other owners, will be peeking out the window just to check that your baby is still there.
If you are going to get an alarm, go to a reputable shop/installer and get one that has a pager also. It my not prevent your car getting stolen if someone really want to take it but, it might offer one more layer of protection. Good luck with your recent purchase, enjoy your car and welcome to the EVO community

Any car is easy to steal depending on the experience of the person stealing it.

tow truck is the way a lot of cars get stolen nowadays.

as for the own your own home comment, I live in Hawaii, try buying a house here. I make pretty decent money, and my rent alone is $1600 for a 2 bedroom townhouse. The other da there was a lottery for affordable housing, and the price for these condo's was 340k.

I honestly think some evo owners who post my evo got stolen have some type of envolvement w that. I say this cuz i hear comments like my car broke down this and that is messed up then weeks later stolen. All this seems convenient to me, then go on ebay and find the parts.

Anyways get an alarm w a code and kill switch, also we sensors i have sensors everywhere u try to touch the tire and that sucker will go off. Get hood pins, trunk pins and clifford offers a code that if some1 takes it the car will shut off within a few mins and the alarm will go off non-stop. This happened 2 my friend while driving my car whooopppsss i forgot to put the code b4 i let him drive it back home =). I got a call 2 mins after wtf is wrong w ur car the wheel locked i'm stuck in the middle of the street and people are looking at me weird cuz ur damn alarm won't shut up.......

Another source of security put a snake in the car and the sucker that takes it will pay w pain =).....

Gap insurance is ur friend but all jokes aside enjoy ur car and just always look around.

I removed one post in this thread as it provided some detail on how to hot wire a Lancer. I realize cars will be stolen, but there is no need to provide a "How To" here. If you consider my action "overkill" then I apologize, but please do not offer specific actions that could aid someone. Thanks.

I could break into any Honda 88-00 and drive it away in less than 2 minutes.

Note: I have never done it but I'm just stating the facts about Hondas....they're cheap!

i've owned my 05 now for more then a year now, and it only has the factory alarm on it. not once have i had one person try breaking into it. just to be on the safe side i would always check the car if i go out and im in a public parking area. you should do the same.
