Wing vs. no Wing, I have made up my mind
Were you merely driving in a straight line or were you really driving? Like I said before---the difference will not be noticeable most likely unless you're applying cross weight to the car and actually turning the steering wheel.
In a straight line--you're probably not going to notice a thing.

I just finished browsing this thread. Take a look; there are some amazing Porsche pics. It occurred to me that I'd never consider taking the wing off a GT3, the duckbill off a '75 Carrera, or any factory-installed whale tail regardless of what I though of their respective esthetics. I'm not sure the Evo is any different. Even though it lacks Porsche's extensive provenance, if you will, the racing/manufacturing history is there to support the Evo's standing as a world-class machine.

ALL of the opinions should be based on same vehicle with & without wing.
mine is temporarily off. @ 70 car is less stable.
not having wing to block rear window.. very nice on take offs, you can see the cars dissapear better, so it definetely feels faster.
though with-out the wing I feel a mixture of nakedness, and like i'm driving a tall honda

Duh, it wasn't in contrast to your statement, but to reinforce it. I guess I should have stated it was in a straight line. It wasn't remote control so yeah I was really driving.

I think it's a bit different with the 911. The wing or lack there of helps distinguish between the variations. Be it Carrera, GT3, or Turbo. For the most part off the show room floor, an EVO is an EVO. All have the same power plant within a model year unlike Porsche.
FWIW, Porsche offered similarly styled rear spoilers as an option on many models over the years.
It is relevant. I'm saying it's different if you remove the distinctive "Turbo" model spoiler from a 996 because it'll look like a Carrera which is a lesser model. Take the wing off of a EVO IX GSR it may look like an RS but they have the same power plant. Get it? Even in your post you noted specific models. You didn't just say Porsche 911.
