Now you spent $40,000 on your EVO, IS it worth it?

I don't see why you don't toss some Blizzaks on that Evo and drive it through the winter though; i think being able to do stuff like that is one of the best things about owning an Evo.
Last weekend driving up to the mountains in the Evo to play in the first blanket of snow this year (3 feet) with a 12.00 dial in time on my windows was F'ing sweet in my book. You should have seen the look on all the people on the side of the roads faces as i blew by in a sports car; while they were putting chains on their tires off the side of the road.

IMO a car like the Evo is made to be modified. come on...the hp per dollar ratio is just way too tempting
but in all honesty i'll probably just mod my evo to about 400whp; anything more than that i'll accomplish with another car. to me the Evo is about total balance...400whp with a 50trim will be perfect for me. i think ..

I bought my evo used and slightly modded (TBE, MBC and springs). Not a day goes by that i dont love driving my car. Its hard on sundays when i try to not drive the car to keep the mileage and wear and tear down. I plan on only doing cams, gears, and then a tune and maybe just MAYBE getting a IX 20g and calling it a day. This is my daily driver and im a drifter at heart, so im gonna be building another drift car in the next year or so. That should take care of my high HP lust!
Also think about the fact that the VIII's and IX's will be the last 4G63 powered Evos. If the car is well maintained and the mods kept to a minimal then it should have a high value as a collectors car in the years to come. It just might... Nothing is certain, but im sure the people that bought Mustangs and Vettes back in the late 60's never thought that they would have such a high resale value now.
No regrets at all. Although I don't entirely agree with the "shuffling" of cars by so many people every few years--I don't think you really know your car until you've had it for a couple of years.
And being an enthusiast who has every desire to have a car collection, how does one start a collection if they are constantly getting rid of cars from their stable?

If you can wake up in the morning, look at the car, enjoy and drive it, and never regret the amount of money you have spent.. Then it was worth it!
I don't know how much I have invested in my car, but I know I'd never get that back. But I do not regret any of the time and money spent on it.. ever.. Not only that, the one thing that I've never thought about is selling it...
If you have to think about resale value, and potential sale, then its not worth the money for you to modify it.. If you have to think about how much your spending, how much it costs, and how much you can recover, modifying ANY car is not for you.

totally agreed! if you driving your modified car does not make you smile than you are in the wrong sport!
A true enthusiast is just getting started after 2 years..
I want other cars too, but I don't sell the ones I like. I buy, fix up, and sell my daily drivers fairly regularly, but that would make me a mechanic and car salesman..
I actually was saying that to get a rise out of people, but its not far from how I feel. Seeing how frequently people jump ship and buy the newest thing out there, shows me that its more about the image and showing off to others, than it is being an enthusiast.. My malibu is a product of 10 years of work, and although I've considered selling it to get cash to finance other projects, I still have it and I'm still intoxicated by it. The Evo is another project that I have been working on since it was new, and after 3 years, thousands of dollars, I love it, every drive, tweak, part, tune, even looking at it and its parts in my garage just give me a great feeling.. I just can't and won't get tired of it, or give up on it when the winds change.. I even paid the car off in full 2 years before it had to be just so I can call it my own..
Are there other cars I'd want.. Yep.. Will I get them? Yep.. Will I get rid of my Evo or Malibu to do it? No friggin way..

I love my Evo, don't get me wrong; BUT i want so many other cars out there, and i have to slap myself daily because i have 0% financing, 10 yr 100k warrenty, and lots more goals to attain with this car; but I always think about selling it for something else. I want an S15 Silvia, and an S60R SO bad; but i know even when i get those i will want something else; it's a vicious cycle.

i can honestly say, that i dont regret one penny i threw into this car. everytime i drive it on a nice sunny day around town or going out in the evenings with my boys following in their cars, its always a great and fun ride. as someone else above stated if you bought this car and arent modding it, its obvisous you bought the wrong car, these cars were made to be played with.
i love driving my evo... i drive like i stole it!!.....heehehe... i think my car keeps getting slower and slower every time i drive it... so i keep getting mods to satisfy my needs!! heheheh... EVo 4 LIFE
I dont know how much I spent on this car. I am reminded everyday when I drive the beast, always get thumbs up. One day I pulled up to this guy in a Viper (older model), and I told him " do you want to see how slow your car is". He was like no man I got something else for that car. Smiles from ear to ear. I finally got my meth system on and I turned the boost up on my 35r from 10 to 20 psi, again smiles from ear to ear. I cant wait to see my man Ivey for a tune on Fri? Is it worth it? Would I do it all over again? IN A HEART BEAT!!!
