The only regrets that I have about the Evo is not buying the right parts the first time around. I bought almost every performance part for my car twice and I am a boost controller away from a third time.

I just wanted to add my .02c

I've spent already $40K plus modding my EVO. I dont regret one bit cuz I got the car brand new, and have modded it tastefully the exact way I wanted. I think its unique too. Everytime I take it out for a spin its a joy even if I'm going to the grocery store a few blocks away.

For the $$$ and the performance you cant beat the value and functionality that the EVO offers. If I ever make more money in the future and after purchasing a home, I'd love to own a Porsche GT3, Corvette Z06, and maybe a nice Truck....

Anyone who buys an Evo and then complains about resale value is not a true enthusiast. I'm driving my Evo till falls to pieces.

The Evo is unparalleled in its price vs performance. It is an all around well balanced car and I challenge you to build something with a 40K price tag to match the Evo in straight line, cornering and braking. Sure you could beat it in one realm, ie a 03 cobra mutang modded with that much money will pump out well over 600 ponies but will it turn or stop? Nope. Or build up an older M3 to hang in the twists but it aint gunna outrun an Evo in the 1320. Now, I guess technically, you could do a lotus to hang all around, but Id rather have an Evo anyway haha.

I was "this" close to buying a Porsche 997 - to the point of taking several test drives and getting the $$ together. Then, I took a test drive of a IX one day, and that was it. Simply put, the EVO is a Porsche for less than half the bux. Plus a real functional back seat, trunk, etc. This car will do nicely as my DD until I can justify 90K for the kraut model. Which may be never...

You can take an Evo IX,and for 10K have ROBISPEC put his performance package(gut it down to 2800 lbs, full cage, full race suspension, bigger brakes,TBE,drop in filter & re-flash & track tires) and it will blister a GT-3 cup car! The Porches will never handle the way a well set up Evo does.

That's cool. But, different strokes for different folks. I actually ADDED about 120 lbs to my MR in the form of audio/DVD/nav/XM equipment... Each to his own. I'm personally not too interested in a dedicated track car, but can understand what you're saying about the potential. The EVO is just an incredible bargain, imo.

I say you ONLY live once so play hard and have fun! Once my other car is done I will have well over 40k into it and its only worth around $50 on a good day , but its what makes me happy and that all I care about - have fun guys and be careful

but with $40K more, you can get a M3 and turbo it.
