THE EGT's are very very low

I dont think there is any disadvantage with going to a 3" turbo back - execpet of course the cost

Finally - as for vendors who try and make claims regarding thier particular exhaust - a 3" tube is a 3" tube - period - the only significant difference between various different systems is the sound, the fit and finish and the materials
Yes Al, I remember you and others saying that the EVO does not exhibit boost creep or high temps after modifyting the exhaust to the 3" size. Here is why I'm a little cautious about this subject. When I got the 3" turbo back exhaust for my WRX, I noticed a definitely louder exhaust. Some folks thought it sounded terrible too. Anyway, that system had one big high-flow cat and a Dynomax can. Now, I never did get a O2 sensor malfunction CEL except at the very end. I suspect that perhaps the dreaded UNICHIP was causing the ECU to pull timing a lot and therefore raising the exhaust temps. This in time caused the failure of the big cat and the resulting CEL. This is all conjecture as I never did any dyno tuning or dyno tests of the car
Of course, with the UNICHIP, what would be the point of Dyno tuning the car? there was nothing that could be adjusted anyway so it would only be a way to get some measurements. In retrospect, it would have been useful to have that informatio, but I did not get it... Oh well, that's past history. I did notice that the boost would spike with the TXS manual boost controller that came with their Stage II Unichip POS.... Well, that was not a particularly rewarding experience and that has made me much more skeptical of vendor's claims... I tend to belive guys like yourself more because you've been there and done that with your $$, your car and your time...... I just know that it's awfully easy to get all excited about one's latest mods and sing the high praises of x, y or z products, only to find out later that some compromises must be made in driveability, noise, warranty or what have you.... I think it will be really nice tp get the straight, unadulterated truth from guys who are doing all these things. I'll be much more comfortable with my decisions if I have good, reliable information to base them upon.

Thanks for being first!

I just don't want the thread to get in the back of the forum. What's the status of those maps for a "stock" EVO? Any news?
