I ran a k&n cone filter with a maf adaptor for nearly 20k miles with a APS BOV and no tune. The car did not run worse. Yes it was dynoed. I had an AFR gauge in the car as one of my first mods as well. A tune made a big difference. But it did not hurt my AFR's. I auto-xed the car and ran it down the 1/4mile like that as well. In fact it was more reliable that way until I put my AEM EMS on the car...but thats a whole other story.

Some parts do cause problems or require a tune right away. It just depends on which ones you choose.
