Need Help: Shift knob and boot

I posted this yesterday but somehow put it in the wrong forum.
Hi, I am a new owner of an awsome ix evo. The only thing that I hate about the ix versus the mr version is that it's shift knob and shift boot doesn't look all that great. I am sure everyone knows how the 5-spd ix shift knob and boot looks like. I would like to change the boot to look like the fq and mr models. Is there a way to do that? The shift knob is not much of a problem, it's the boot that i hate. Can I just get the MR boot from the factory and install it to the ix. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

How to change it to look something like this....

I dunno about the MR shift knob (maybe find a nice Momo?), but I bought a leather boot from Redline and it's quite nice.

the boot in the MR's are soo much nicer. The leather is softer and i think it matches the SSL seats better.

I actually don't like the MR shift knob at all. It's a tad too Fast and Furious for me. And for that matter the e-brake as well. I put on a black Ralliart unit made of teflon. Subtle, and the teflon material keeps the temperature very neutral in all climates--not too hot or cold--and it seems to live up to that although I need to wait for next summer to test its heat dissipation. It shouldn't be too hard to adapt the boot and knob to MR look--good luck!

Actually, I think the boot in the MR is garbage. I want to replace it but haven't had the time to take that consol apart for boot removal. I want to get an alcantara boot to match the recaro seats.

I think he is mainly talking about the ring around the boot on the stock version. Compared to the missing silver ring on the MR console.. I agree that I don't like the silver knob, but the lack of the goofy looking silver ring around the boot looks great.

My only guess is to find someone who is parting out a MR and see if you can purchase the center console, and shift boot. I guess you might be able to take out the silver ring.. Not sure whats under it or how it would look, but it is an option.

Thanks for the replies
yeah it is the ring that I hate. I am used to the leather boot covering up everything look.
Is there a way I can order the whole console from the factory. If so, any idea on how much it would cost???

More than you will want to pay I'm sure. Dealer prices suck.

Look into the IX RS shiftknob. It's an aluminum 5 speed ball.

Dump the shift boot if you want, but stick with the shift knob! Why would you replace the comfortable "baseball" shift knob with a cold chunk of metal???

I installed the EVO "baseball" shift knob along with a B&M short shifter on my DSM a while back, and I absolutely love it.

Just purchase the MR center section, boot and knob. The tray and 12v outlet should still slip right in to the MR one.

^^^^^^ I remember those days ^^^^^^

There are people who are starving in this world. And we are tripping on a shift knob and boot. Strange.
