!@#$%^ Perrin Shorty Antenna

So I was all excited last night over this small mod. I got my Perrin shorty antenna in the mail, installed it before I went to bed.

I go on my lunch break, walk out of quiznos and see this

I don't know if someone tried to steal it or what, but I dont see how else it could get broken like that. Stupid me put loc-tite on the threads, so maybe when they tried to pull it off, it cracked.

Anyways, how does the mount come apart? Where can I buy a new one?

Ouch! I had the same thing happen to me not too long ago. To replace that youre going to have to take off the vortex gen. and you have to be careful because they use double sided 3M tape to put those suckers on. I used a blow dryer and some floss to remove it. Unbelievable the extremes people go to for something so small.

Go to honda, and get a s2k/element antenna. not quite as small, but works just as good, is cheaper, and less likely to get stolen. i've had mine for 3 years. cut 1/8 inch off of the screw for a perfect fit.

No, now guys your issue isn't the locktite.....that was the good idea. The bad idea was getting a non flexing antenna. Whoever posted to get the S2000 antenna, smartman. I have had my antenna get hung up on my car cover while putting the cover on and no damage. There will always be $hit heads out there that try sstuff like that, don't give up your stuff, just don't make it any easier to take from you.

Wow, that really sucks. I never cease to be amazed by some peoples lack of respect for other peoples stuff. I mean it's a $30 antenna, and hardly worth attemting to steal. My guess is that someone is jealous, and either tried to remove it or just plain broke it for no other reason then to be an ***.

I have the only Evo in my area (atleast that I've seen since moving here a year ago), and I'm always paranoid that someone is gonna mess with it out of jealousy. The subie drivers seem cool, but the DSM and Honda owners around here have actually swerved across the yellow line towards me while going the opposite way, just to get my attention I guess.

I have an S2k one also. fits great. I didnt locktie it Im somone wants it Id rather have them take it then get frustrated and break it off.

As posted man you'll have to take your VG off carefully and youll have to get some more 3m double sided tape. Mabey once you get your VG off you can un thread the broke off piece with vice grips or somthing

Dam. Nice antennae. Yea note to self not to put lock tite. I think your going to have to go under the ceiling pad and unscrew that to change it. Done that before for the VW.
