Angry Never leave your car at a dealership..

So, I have my precious EVO towed to Rice Mitsubishi here in Knoxville to have some clutch work done. I have to leave it for almost a week and a half waiting on LancerShop.com to ship me the clutch . I be sure to leave them the keys and lock the doors. Well, the other day I received a call from the service manager saying that someone has broken into my car and stolen my radio. Sure enough, when I drive down there that is exactly what has happened. It appears the bastards knew what they were doing. They used a punch in the bottom left hand corner of the window (cant see in the pics), crawled inside the car, and proceeded to disassamble the radio bezzle. They got away with my Pioneer DVD unit, iPod adapter, and iPod. Best part about all of this is.....Rice WILL NOT take any responsibility for anything that has happened. Hell, I even called into the PD to file a report and couldn't even get a cop out there to look at the car in person. So, along with having to pay for a new clutch and flywheel, along with installation, I get to pay for a new window and equipment.

The dealer should be responsible since the car was in their care the whole time. Also why wouldn't a cop show up? This is obviously a theft.

Not to be the devil's advocate but an employee could've easily stolen the stuff off your car and made it look like thieves broke in.

i'm sure you already know...but...after market radio...u take it out...i'm sure you never assumed anything would happen to your car at the dealership... had a friend drop his car off a few weeks ago at the dealership in mia to get work done...i made reference to me stealing his radio cause he brags about his sound system...his immediate response "go ahead...i already took everything out" '

good luck jordan...hard lesson...yet..still a lesson.

I had my car at the dealership for 2 1/2 weeks waiting for parst from japan. They were nice enough to leave it inside the entire time.

I think the dealership is responsible.

The point is you should not have to do that. The car should be safe when you leave it to a registered insured shop. Whenever I leave my car at my shop, they always make sure its locked behind a gate with guard dogs at the end of the day. You may need to find a shop like that instead of going to the dealership.

It's even worse that the theft happened on dealership property and they won't do a thing about it. Shady dealership if you ask me.

Whenever any one of my cars have to go to the dealership, the aftermarket sub and deck face comes off. I've had a deck broken by a tech and a deep scratch made on a sub by another careless tech. I've resorted to taking things out not because of theft, but because of pure negligence on the dealership's part.

thefts happen all the time at dealerships...i'm sure they have a clause somewhere stating they will not be held liable if items are stolen while "outside" ...sure they have insurance...good luck with it...dealer ship should have a camera...and whats up with the police not wanting to come out to take a report?
