Angry Impounded!

ok, so last night i parked my car at my appartment complex in the parking in the front of my building. there is only one assigned parking spot in that row and it belonged to my appartment, the rest of the spots are all labled "permit parking only from the hours of 6pm-8am" and says violators will be towed. well, no one in my building has any of the permits and they wanna charge you $20 for monthly parking pass. now i don't normally get home until between 6:30pm and 7pm so it's not an option for me to be able to stop by the office to get one since they close at 6pm but they are nice enough to put them in the gym....unfortunately though by the time i pull in they are still all gone .

well, this has been going on for the past few months and nothing has happened....until today. i got up today to go to the grocery store and i walk outside to go take a drive in the Evo and come to find out it was gone! the first thing that came to mind was that my car had been stolen but it could have also been towed off (i thought this was very slim but i decided to check with my main office). sure enough though, when i walked in and asked about it, they had towed my car last night! apparently they said they had been towing cars a lot here lately and it just so happened they decided to tow last night in my lot! the crappy thing is, is that i usually drive my '91 jeep cherokee as a daily driver so i can enjoy my Evo more and more and i parked it right next to my Evo but today my jeep was still there and the car was gone. on top of that, it ended up costing me $330 just to get my car out of the impound and they only towed it today at 2am.

i was pissed that my car got towed but i was also scared that the guys who did the towing didn't know anything about what cars were all-wheel drive and may have broken my drive-train by just trying to jack-up one end and tow it along the road. thankfully though they took the opt end and just threw it up on a dolly to haul it off so i was safe there but still blew that i had to pay it out.

now normally i would just suck it up and say yeah, i should just fork over the extra $20 a month to take a permit spot legally but the thing is, is that no one has a permit at my building yet they all park in the permit spots and even if i did have one, i get home so late at night that they are all taken up by the people who get home before me who don't have the permit passes. on top of that, when i tried to talk to the management, they told me that i can't call and get someone towed out of a permit spot even though they don't have a pass and i do, i can only call and get them towed if they are parked in the spot assigned to my appartment so even though i have a pass, it would pretty much do me no good and be a waste of $20 a month b/c i wouldn't be able to get their ****'s towed out so i can park in the spot that i am paying for...what a crock of **** right? there are also no visitor spots, only number ones for the appartment buildings and permit parking ones everywhere else. there is also a back alley behind my building but i hear people tearing up and down it throughout the night and i sure as hell don't feel safe parking my Evo back there, it'd be like asking for it to either get hit or broken into.

i'm so pissed right now, i have no idea what to do but i know that i want ny appartment complex to pay for my impound fee. i'm damn near broke as it is right now anyway (just got married two months ago ) and this was going to be the paycheck to use to go out and buy christmas presents with but now b/c of this that is pretty much shot all to hell and now there isn't going to be a christmas for me or my wife b/c we don't have the money for it anymore......i just don't know what to do guys, what a great f*cking christmas present huh? a nice $330 bill just to get my car back from the impound, all curtosey of my appartment complex.......i hope you all have a more merry christmas than i'm gonna have.

yeah, tell me about it.

i plan on going to talk to the managment of the apartment complex on monday since they aren't going to be open tomorrow because it is sunday and all. i don't really know what they would be willing to do about it but hopefully something.

-->on a side note, it only took me about 5-10 mins to type all that.

Sucks Dude. Are you sure the car is okay cause it takes much work to properly load an AWD onto a flatbed?

it still feels good and solid as i drove it home and i talked to the guy who towed it and he said he didn't flat bed it but actually used wheel dolly's to tow it back to their yard.

I think his 'Enter' key isn't working. My eyes were bleeding by the 4th row.

I went out and actually bought a small sticker to stick in my window that states that my EVO is AWD and to only flatbed tow it, but yes, you got lucky with that dolly tow, although it sucks. DId you eer think about maybe getting a lawyer? cause if the rule is they can only park in the reserved spots with a permit, and basically no one has one, something should be said. now, how did they single you out to tow you? cause you said you got home after they were closed, so someone had to have said something. if so, I wonder who and why they got to call on you but you can't call on them. So, for this parking lot, you are only allowed one spot? and only at a 20 a month fee? is that it? where do you live, cause everywhere i have heard of, if they have assigned parking places, it is included in your monthly rent.

Well, I read enough to get the idea...

Dude, sorry to hear about this.
Doesn't your apartment complex have a record of valid plate numbers of the current tenents??
Place I used to be at had that, so they knew who belonged.

But it looks like you have 2 cars... are you only allowed 1 spot for each apartment?
If that's the case, youd be better off to park your Jeep in harms way and let them take that.

$20 a month to avoid a possible $330 towing bill. Say you get potentially towed once a year (but more likely potentially more), you still save $90.

Seems like a no brainer.

Who cares what everyone else is doing, focus on your money.
