EVO has HID?

For you EVO 8 owners out there, does the EVO 8 really have HID? The ones like BMW? What color does it light up?

Yes they are equipped with HID's and they emit a "bluish" tint similar to those seen on bmw's

the lights on the Evo rock - they might just be the strongest standard feature, and this is saying alot.

don't think any stock HIDs have a 6000K color temp.
I believe its like 4300K?
As you get higher in the temp range, it gets less bright.

Yes it does,

The color is bluish white. Very bright, very nice. The car also features a manual adjustment of the level so you do not blind oncoming traffic when the car is loaded and your light change the aim upwards.... Top notch!!

Thanks guys for the replies!! The reason I asked is that I randomly searched for pictures of an EVO 8 on the internet and found a night picture of an EVO with yellowish/orange headlights just like any conventional car...

That's because after about 45 seconds the HID's turn more yellowish because they are warmed up. I'm looking to replace my bulbs with some Philips Ultinon 6000K or Osram Xenarc bulbs. They always look purplish/blue even after warmup. My friend has them on his evo and it looks incredible.

coolguy949, would you please get us a link for those bulbs? How much do they cost and where to buy? Exact fit? Can we use stock ballast?

Yeah, any D2S HID bulbs should work. There are two types of bulbs you can get...D2S and D2R. D2S is for ellipsoidal housings (projectors) while D2S is for reflector type HID housings. We use D2S on the evo. HID bulbs arent cheap though. The retail for ultinon 6000K bulbs are like 150 PER BULB. I might be able to get them to you cheaper than that. I'd have to check the exact pricing.

Here are some ultinon bulbs on a 5 series:

Ultinon 6000K vs standard 4300K bulbs (ultinons on the right):

I'll let you guys know the pricing. I met up with some friends last night. One guy had the 6000K in his evo and it looks like our purpleish color when the stock HID's first turn on....but it stays that shade. I also met with a guy that had XTec 7000K on his 350Z and those were REALLY nice and white. They were more white than the ultinons. I'll try to get prices (my friend is an HID dealer) and pics.

great find.....if those are Philips Ultinons they are selling, that's the deal of the century. I just called HIDs4Less and they told me it's 325 a pair!

I emailed europeanautosport.com to see what brand those 6000K are.
