2.4 Liter Engines For Evo! [MERGED]
2.4 Liter Engines For Evo!
My friends dad Adam asked me to drive the evo for him up to LA so that he can drop off his Eclipse to get it fixed. I was really excited to do that for him and was like a dream come true. But anyways, we dropped his eclipse at Road///Race in LA and were talking with the mechanics there.
One of the mechanics owned an Evo and we were talking with him about the Evo. He said that they are reciving a 2.4L engine for the Evo!!!
He said that it was pretty expensive for all the parts n stuff... around 3k.
What do you guys think?

i think the increased displacement issue has been discussed before in one of the STI threads, you gotta stick to your roots! The STI 2.5L is wrong just like the 2.4L evo is wrong... the whole spirit of the car is seeing what you can do with the 2.0L you have.
Well Magnus (a respected engine builder) has one for the DSMs. Maybe it's the same thing? http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/cat...ne-compare.htm
It 4 Grand for the complete bottom end, and you need adjustable cam gears. I guess it helps the low end torque a lot, and can spool a huge turbo like nobody's business.

i heard something about a truck crank going into the evo's engine and raising the displacement? i also might be raising a buncha bs, i dunno. i may be getting this confused with another engine (3sgte)

ex-ralliart uk (now I believe 'xtreme cars') has been experimenting with a 2.3 stroker and they seem to like the package they came up with based on it.
Spirit? To me the spirit of the evo is to be fun, chuckable and quick - in that order. If it is reliable, doesn't kill the feeling of just 'bursting to be revved', I'm all for it.
Doesn't claudius have the 2.2l Jun stroker?

um...thats probably a lie because you can't bore and stroke the 4G63 past 2.2L i believe.....i think Claudius knows this answer.
but most definately, evo and STi should stick to their roots. The 2.0 liter has tons of parts, going 2.4 = no parts and experimentation (on the consumer side) with a completely new engine, which i frown upon. I like proven power, don't like to be guinea pig. That's why i chose the Evo over the STi.

The 4G64 just has a taller deck, and is missing the 4G63T's oil squirters. And you can add the oil squirters.
