I got the 5AM phone call. My buddy Jeff was at the hospital. From what I was told he was driving down a street when he saw a car coming head on with him in the evo. He swerved to avoid the oncoming car and lost control. He slid the evo right into 2 trees. He described the car as an L-shape and he thought it was done. I am on the way to the hospital right now. I will take some pics of the car.....

Damn, that sucks. Not the way to bring in the new year. Hope he gets better soon. This may be sort of a callous question but did he still have the front crash beam on his car?

 

Actually, that isnt true. Fraud is the biggest cause for the rise in rates. If anything this is going to effect his insurance. Jeff just got the evo back from the body shop after some guy at the 7-11 backed right into his passenger as he pulled into the parking lot. Smashed the whole side. over 3500 in damage, this was just fixed.

In Florida we are a no-fault state.

I have heard it only helps at low speed crashes but wasn't sure. I know some people have removed theirs but not sure how safe that is for the driver. From what i have read its more for frame protection in low speed crashes than.

 

I removed mine in favor of a larger intercooler. I sure it will help to some extent, but honestly If you crash over 45MPH, it's going to be ugly.....crash bar or not.

^^^tell me about it! I was at home parranoid about my evo getting broken into. I sit outside everynight with my .45 hoping my "friends" would come to take more stuff!

When the cell rang at 5am I knew it was one of my evo buddies and it wasnt good news!

For some reason I had a weird feeling about Jeff all day. Like an intuition...Weird.

He was really upset and in pain when I talked to him. We hung up when his mother was calling him.
