What's the rust protection policy on '05 models? I thought it was up to 70k miles or something like that with the factory warranty. Find out what it is and go back and tell him to suck it.

Yeah Roby does suck. I'm sure they try ripping everyone off too just because they're in Dublin. Damn stealership.

You'll want to focus on these 2 things...

Rust
Outer body panel rust-through protection is 84 months/ 100,000 miles. Raider rust corrosion coverage is 84 months/60,000 miles.

Rust Miles
100,000
and

Transferability
Basic Warranty is fully transferable to subsequent owners at no charge for remainder of warranty. 120 month/100,000 miles Powertrain Warranty applies to original owner. Subsequent owners receive the balance of coverage remaining under the 60 month/60,000 mile New Vehicle Limited Warranty
A quick call to Mistubishi NA with your VIN handy should yield, at a minimum, some sort of soft copy of this policy...either with a PDF or a link on their website.

Had the same problem with paint chipping and corresponding rust in the door area.

The local dealer did the paint repairs as a "one time good faith repair" after I made it clear that the repairs would be much more extensive/expensive if they let the rust continue. First time in my ownership of a Mitsu that they actually stood behind their product.

Good luck.

If all goes wrong, raise all hell in the showroom... It has worked for me numerous times with all different dealerships.. They will make you shut up. Go on a saturday afternoon when their showroom is really busy and scream your head off at the manager in front of everyone possible. He should kindly warm to yourself.

I thought the rust-through warranty only applied to holes through a panel. I thought visible rust isn't covered past 12mo/12k miles.

Rust through which means you can put something through a hole that the metal actually rusted through.

It's not covered under warranty anyways, if you read closely they say something like penetrated rust, or something similar. It basically means rust that has already went through the metal, or is going through the metal. The rust you have on their now is most likely just surface rust and can be taken off with some windex/simplegreen and elbow grease
