TECH TIP: This is a direct bolt on turbo. This is an upgraded Mitsubishi 49378-01580 turbo
This is a just a tweaked OEM 16G.

how is the 9 turbo on the evo8 uptop in that matter.

i would like to know how the 9 turbo taper's on the evo 8.
lol

I have heard that the 9 turbo tapers just the same if not more, but it makes more midrange power and torque. However, none of this is justified, only what I have read and heard from IX owners.

It's not a bad drag racing snail but it's definately not optimal for that application either if you're trying to crack into the 11's or 10's. It is however a 100% bolt-on affair with 100% OEM parts. Plug and play really. Until somebody creates an affordable 50 trim kit that retains an OEM-ish look, I think this is our best option on pump. Good luck with every thing dude.
i think you should look at my sig lol.... the time is before ported mani, ported hotside, and o2 housing, no custom tune, no cams, no ebc, terrible tires....

that is exactly how it feels, the taper can be controlled a little, but as i posted early, the taper is a design thing.. but it definitely has more torque and power in the midrange then all of the viii's i've been in and all of the viii's i've done some spirited driving with. just some minor tuning and it doesnt fall off like the viii's do.

Pump Gas and Meth Injection tuned by myself- and i know the IX does not come with 20g wheel - im just saying the IX compressor housing is able to hold good boost in its stock form

It began life as a 100% OEM Mitsubishi 16G and from the outside it still looks like the same turbo. However the OEM 16G compressor wheel has been replaced with a larger, 20G wheel. It would take a week to explain the difference in performance between the two. I'll let the Buschurite disciples do that. Just understand that Mitsubishi does not and has not ever manufactured a 20G for the Evo.

It hauls man. Call Andy and see what your schedules look like. The improvement will be like night and day. Right now he's doing his tunes at EIP in San Jose but Speed Element just picked up a gorgeous new dyno! When I was there on Friday it was still boxed up. Can't wait to see everything all setup over there.

^^^
Free Speed Element plug above. Andy now you gotta give me a good deal on that IX front end swap.

If Andy told you it's fine that's good enough for me. I have a Walbro 255lpm but the IX stocker is strong too.

all i can say from my experience is that bolting up the ix 16g to my 03 9.8 16g was a pretty big improvement...it pulls a whole lot harder throughout the power band...the power delivery uptop does die but midrange power has increased...aleast thats what my but dyno says...i even did a placebo(friend)...who didnt know the swap was going to occur...so i had him drive before and after!!!
