who cares about what the calipers look like. You should see Martin's car (AMS) his Brembos are solid black from high heat temps. Most of my friends in the Milwaukee are have "brownbos" and take pride in it!

peeling calipers and "brownbos" are two totally different things...when the clear starts peeling it looks just plain fugly. I would want them fixed too if it happened to me

I will check into the powdercoating. If you have a number i will take it for prices!

Nez136> Hopefully your brembos wont turn pink. You would have to see it!

yes you can powder coat almost anything metal. I did my calipers on my Sportbike. No problem. Just make sure all of the brake fluid is out. The heat from the oven tends to make the caliper close/open and will squeeze out the fluid left inside which then ruins your powder job you just did.

this is my second evo...and I never had caliper's clearcoat peeling or color changing.

What are you guys using to clean the calipers?

most will claim that the peeling or browning is because of the calipers overheating. The only way to overheat them is to use the crap out of them. Typically from track use.

Most often i'd suspect its because someone uses OEM or Street pads that lose bite, glaze, fade, etc. when they get up to track temps, and the excess pedal pressure required to regain that bite can cause excessive heat buildup. Pressure increased heat, as does friction. Put on R-Compounds? Now you've got more grip so you can use even grippier pads. This may develop even more heat.

I've had about 4 sets of pads on my evo. No over heating or anythings. Just typical use with 60k. I will go with the powder coating. Thanks for the advice. Eric
