buy new ones or paint 'em, assuming of course you are out of warranty... and with your mod list, you probably are, save up for the wing too!

take it to the dealer if ur still in waranty and u dont have after maket racing pads ur coverd for brandnew calipers free of charge... trust me my father use to own a mitsu dealership clearcoat defects happen on wings and calipers.. if ur out of waranty than go to a paint shop and have them powder coat them and if ur wings coat is fading as well any paint shop can wet sand and re-clear coat it to look brand new

I might try the wet sand deal....I would have to look for a write up on how to do it.
My wings fine there must have been a misunderstanding.

its too late but probably should have cleaned your wheels often so brake dust doesnt build up in there and eat at the paint, also use a mild wheel cleaner.. some are harsh enough to fade the caliper paint.

Here's the deal on warranty. I went to mitsu trying to get mine covered under warranty. They saw it was modded and said hell no. But the mods wasn't the real issue.
They said its grease/dirt that kills the clearcoat. So if Discount Tire or any other shop has messed with you wheels and gotten the calipers dirty, no warranty. Period.
If you have records of your car being "Dealer Serviced ONLY" then they will replace. But since they know to clean the calipers before giving you back the car. You're most likely screwed.

If you happen to get it under warranty, it's "a error on the dealers part" so good luck.

If anyone has any other suggestions to warranty, I still have 2.5k miles left on warranty!

I had mine replaced under warranty on my modded 03, so have a number of others. It never hurts to ask.

Geez people stop with the warranty ideas, he already said it's out of the question and he doesn't care.

You could also try grit blasting to get down to the bare metal, you could then paint/powdercoat them any color you want. It may cost more, but powdercoated calipers would be teh sex, and (IIRC) it would be more heat resistant than most paints.

You'd probably lose the brembo label, but I believe it's only a template. You could color them anyhting you want, and then spray through a laser cut template to get the logo back. Then clear coat.

For best results I reccomend let professionals do it. Wheels are typically $50-100 each, and brake caliper are obviously much smaller, so i'd expect much cheaper, too.

I agree. It's a common thing we do on the Porsche forums - remove the factory Brembo brakes and have them power coated professionally (let me know if you need the name of somewhere to get it done). It's not too expensive and lasts a long time. You can use a high-temperature decal for the caliper. On the Porsche forums we normally buy them here:

http://www.xenonmods.com/

They have various designs (Porsche, Audi, etc), including a Brembo OEM-look one. Go to the website and click on the "Brake Caliper Decals" link on the left to see what they have. They even have a "Mitsubishi" caliper decal, but I think "Brembo" looks far better on an Evo! Alternatively you can stencil with a laser-cut template and spray paint, but the problem is when you have "islands" (for example on the letter "B" you have two islands). It can get a little tricky unless you know what you're doing. I'm personally not very good with artistic stuff!

Good luck!

Thanks!

S.
