Rattling

Does anybody have a rattling in the back of their evo. I always hear a rattling noise and my car doesn;t even have 1500 miles on it. I have tried sitting in the back seat while someone else is driving but I can't figure out where the noise is coming from. It is extremely annoying and I need to figure out what it is. Any ideas?

I have one to. I found it to be the under the door trim panel on the driverside. Good luck finding yours. If you do find it put some insulation in that area.

Evo's rattle that it! If you fix one more will develop. My evo rattles all over the place. When I got over a speed bump at slow speeds you can hear the fram twisting and my interior panels creak. It will just get worse as time goes on.

Did you get your windows tinted?

The guy who tinted my windows took out the third brake light to get at the rear window. He didn't tighten the 10mm bolts all the way and it was rattling against the glass.

It's probably the speaker wire vibrating against the rear speaker shelf. Get in the trunk and unscrew or unclip your speaker covers --- they have three screws/cover that use a white plastic "clip" that the screw goes thru. Either you can unscrew them, or simply squeeze the sides with needle nose pliers until they will go north a little. When you get all three out, you'll be able to remove the speaker cover from the back seat and see where your wires are. Either tape them down, or apply some additional foam insulation to the areas prone to vibration. I used old mequiar's gold glass applicator pads that I cut into strips --- they worked great.

If you wanted a car that didn't rattle for 30,000 you should've bought an Audi Evo=rattly ****box I love my Evo, but the rattles are part of ownership. Just put your foot to the floor and smile

One that happened to me, and after I found it, It never came back...

Have you had a lot of stuff in your trunk lately? Stacked high?
I did once and unclipped the white hard plastic clip that holds the two "torsion bars" together/ next to each other, that lever the trunk lid up. I had to get on my back in the trunk almost to see it. Mine was located almost directly under the third brake light and will be easy enough for you to check when you check that light. It was quite noticable from the inside of the car, and was also hard to localize from the back seat, but would sound like it was coming from there.

Hope you find it

Tom
